Who: Rin and anyone else in Konoha
When: Early February
What: NINJA ATTACK. IN THE LAND OF SNOW. THAT IS THE LEAF.

Konoha's winters always seemed so short. This one was unusually fierce, but Rin had no illusions about it being any longer. Which was a good thing, because a village like Konoha wasn't really prepared to deal with a long and hard winter like this one.

The hospital was a little busier than normal due to the cold, but not so much that Rin was completely busy like she'd been the month before. She had time to wander now, and...well it wasn't fair to say she could get 'bored', since there was plenty to do in the village, and she hardly needed constant stimulation to please her.

It did mean she had enough energy to do things that weren't helping out around the village and resting inside her house where it was warm, though.

And that was why, on a whim, she built herself a stealthy fort of ice and snow, hid behind it like a true ninja, and when someone passed by...struck! With a sudden rain of ~~deadly~~ freezing snowballs.

He'd seen the... bombardment was a good word, from the side, and that meant he had the opportunity to slip around to the side and creep toward her fort in a way that allowed him to hunt for a way in. Eventually he just invited himself inside though. "So. Got enough ammo?"

H-ey! Invading a person's snow fort is an offense that could get a person killed if they weren't careful! Even if they were hokage.

...But given that he arrived as an ally, she would allow this act to slide this time. She nodded and gestured at the pile of snowballs behind her. They were a little too well formed...so it was very possible that one of her jutsus had been modified into forming round balls of snow. Or she was very good at making her ammunition before she struck.

He'd have to stick around until she ran out to know for sure.

"I think we have enough for a few rounds. But if we encounter heavy resistance, we'll need to restock."

"Think we can rope any of the stiffs into it?" He hefted one of the balls, looking for a good target outside. After all, he was in a particularly good mood today.

"Hmmm...maybe if we defeat one of them we can indenture them into servitude as the price for defeat?" She hadn't actually planned far beyond the fort and ambush, but now that she had an ally, it seemed like she ought to do something with it.

"A snow minion? I can completely get behind that idea." He laughed, bumping shoulders with her, then leaned up to catch a poor passerby before they could escape, no matter how fast they were trying to go.

Oh! That was good aim. Not that she expected any less from her team (she was pretty sure Team Minato had, collectively, the best aim in Konoha), but it was always a nice reminder to see it in action.

After a moment, though, she joined in on the attack, following up with a strike to the stumbling shinobi at knee level. A swift and decisive victory would be the best use of their ammo until they successfully recruited a minion.

"The end is at hand!" Sounded less than intimidating from her voice, but it was backed up with a pelting snowball at least.

Obito laughed and threw another, catching the man on the back of the head, which resulted in him going down. "Should we capture this one?"

She hummed thoughtfully, and curled her fingers under her chin. "What do you think? Does he look like he'll make good snowballs? We should only have the best soldiers in our army! When the enemy arrives we'll be taken down if we're not prepared."

The 'enemy' is probably Kakashi or Gai. Or someone with enough water control to retaliate with a surprising amount of snowballs in a short amount of time.

"It's hard to say, but I think he'll escape if we don't move quickly while we still can." He pointed to where the shinobi was shaking snow out of his hair, eying them warily.

"Hmmm...and then it would be wasted ammunition..." She nodded and gave him a playful wink. "Stay put, I'll go and get him!"

Because clearly the little kunoichi was the one better equipped to drag the wayward shinobi into their fort.

He didn't protest, instead flashing her a grin and gathering a new snowball. "You got it. I'm sure you can make him obey."

Well, it wasn't particularly difficult. 'Making him obey' mostly just involved dragging him by the arm with a conspiratorial smile. Once she made it back to the safety of the fort, wary shinobi in tow, she pointed to the pile of snowballs. "You're now a soldier of the Rin-and-Obito snowball army! You have an important role: to make enough ammunition to hold out during an intense battle!"

"It's getting toward lunch so you know people are gonna start flooding through here. We can't be caught unawares." He looked to the man, grinning at him. "You've been conscripted to make sure the wall doens't fall."

She nodded gravely. "It's an important duty! I hope you can handle so much responsibility and intensity!"

Though, if Gai arrived, that really would be a difficult proposition. Or Kakashi, if they couldn't conscript him, too. The poor, world-weary shinobi looked as if he had already fought a war and lost. But, after glancing at the two of them, at least he went about making snowballs after all.

Obito knew Rin's thoughts. Kakashi may pretend he was lazy but if he got on opposing sides to them they were doomed. "Just hope we don't get Gai. I don't think he'd hesitate to tackle through the wall here itself." He snagged a couple balls to go after another passerby.

"...You're right, we need another wall or two to slow him down with!" At least long enough to get him to realize it was a snowball fight, not a wrestling match.

...He could be reasoned with to understand that, right? "I count on you to distract him if it happens!" And, maybe it was a good idea if they captured more passersby. Eventually word would reach their more dangerous opponents of their fortress, and having more soldiers would be best.

"Well, I could, but that would be really counterproductive to your cause there Rin." He laughed, shaking his head as he ducked down to avoid returned fire.

"Wha--why would it?!" Her plan was brilliant, how could it work against her?

She ducked down under the wall when an errant snowball almost hit her, and snatched up one of her own to strike with. "So rude, attacking someone who hasn't struck you yet!"

"I think they figure if we're on this side of the snowbank we're fair game. Can't say I blame them." He snagged another armload to hail them down on those who didn't move quick enough.

"Well, I guess we'll have to protect our ammo loader, then." It wouldn't be good if errant snowballs took him down before they had replacements. He was awfully easy to beat, after all.

But now Obito was getting ahead of her in points, so she loaded up an armful as well and began to strike the ones distracted by his attacks on others.

"Yep. Which means not letting them get past us. Maybe recruiting someone else from among the fallen." And it looked like a couple passerby were sticking to their assault back. Whoops.

"Maybe it should be the price to pay for defeat! Lost soldiers will be conscripted to our side, and together we will conquer Konoha!" As if the only volunteer wasn't already the hokage. Naturally.

But at least some were fighting back. It wouldn't be any fun if the only ones who ever fought back were Kakashi and Gai.

Obito nodded, then carefully crept out to one of the fallen while Rin had the other two distracted and prodded the man back toward their fort. He gave a conspiratorial 'no sabotage for the other side' and then dived out of sight just as another joined the opposing group and aimed at him. "Got us another helper!'
