The Konoha Chunin Exams
Where: Konoha, various areas. (To be listed in their respective top level comments)
When: June 6th-June 13th.
Event Details
Part 1 first half:
Starting at 6 am on June 6th will begin the information gathering part of the exam. Examinees will have to find people to give them the location of the next stage of the exams within a sectioned off zone of the village that all examinees will have access to. They will not be permitted to badly injure anyone for this, but they will have to get the information without clues as to who would even have it. All information plants will be removed from the area at 8 pm when the second half of the first section concludes.
Part 1 second half:
This will also begin at 6 am, however, it will only be given to those who successfully show up, and will, as the first part, end at 8 pm.
During this half, everyone who shows up at the entrance of the building will be sent inside, where a simple maze is set up leading to the back door. You have until the deadline of 8 pm to get out of the other end and be taken to the meeting area for stage two of the exam.
The catch is that once you're inside someone will ambush you with a genjutsu that you will have to break out of. This genjutsu will be decided by whatever proctor finds you, and you will not be warned. It could be anything from the maze becoming endless to you being chased by bloodlusting enemies trying to kill you to stop you from completing the exam. Good luck.
Part 2 of the exam:
Anyone who met the 8 pm deadlines will have the next hour to get themselves sorted and sign the forms, which will be explained by the proctor sending everyone in, before 9 pm. Anyone who is not present at 9 pm will, of course, be disqualified. Anyone who does not sign the waivers will also be disqualified. On turning in their waivers, all teams will receive one of two scrolls, blue or green. They will also be informed that they will require the opposing color, as well as a cream scroll that will be from among the stock seeded inside the combat area, before they will be able to get back out on the other side of the field.
Teams will, over the next several minutes, be spaced at one minute intervals until all have entered the exam location, at which point the gate will be secured and all applicants will be stuck inside for the next six days unless, and until, they've met their goals.
Details of the area that combatants will be trapped inside:
-This exam area is on one of the far edges of Konoha.
-The exiting gates are located at the base of the mountain.
-This area is heavily forested.
-This used to be a ROOT training field and is thus incredibly heavily trapped. Traps include explosive tags, chakra triggered genjutsu, pit traps, and a variety of other unpleasant, and possibly deadly things.
-The wildlife in this area is not only dangerously large, but also incredibly intelligent. It's not unheard of for it to possibly out-think an unprepared shinobi. And eat them.
-It will take at least 36 hours at a dead run to cross the zone safely from entry point to exit.
Details of what must be done to get out of the area with a pass:
-You must have a full three man squad on leaving the field to be permitted to move on.
-You must have acquired a cream scroll from the field (or another team). A scroll of this nature will be exclusively found under several layers of traps, with increasing difficulty and danger, that will reset themselves if any of them are triggered before the scroll is recovered.
-You must have both a blue and green scroll. You will only get one of these before entering.
-You have to open all of said scrolls at once by a gate and figure out the order which they must be applied to the gate to open it.
Details on disqualification:
-Attempting to leave with less than a three man team from your village.
-Opening any of the scrolls out of sight of an exit gate.
-Failing to get all the scrolls.
-Failing to leave the testing area before noon of June 13th.
-Dying.
If you have any questions poke a mod or post them here and we will get back to you as quickly as possible.
When: June 6th-June 13th.

When he's close enough she presses the drink into his hands and tilts her head studying him. He looks tired all things considered and that meant he would likely be grumpy, the poor prospective's. She sort of feels sorry for them, sort of.
"How'd it go?" She asks turning to rearrange the forms from obnoxiously neat piles into equally obnoxiously neat piles. It was also partially her way of saying you look horrible what happened without openly voicing the question.
no subject
He finally stops after the heat of the tea hits his gut, relaxing minutely -- enough to greet her more properly: "Hey."
And then, face falling immediately into distaste: "The mission? I'm never having children. I don't even want to look at the genin today."
no subject
"The mission couldn't have been that bad." She's conveniently ignoring Aprils clusterfuck of a mission. It was a simple escort mission, those typically weren't very trying.
no subject
"It was bad," he says as he works, though his tone is self-deprecating enough to make it clear he's exaggerating. "The whole thing was centered around this brat who just wanted to double his birthday presents."
no subject
There's a long moment in which she isn't sure hot to respond. It sounds like a waste of a mission from where she's standing and she could see why it left such a poor taste in in Sasuke's mouth. "That's not what missions are for."
no subject
Now that he's had time to think about the consequences, it was probably also a mission that inadvertently served to prevent the idiot merchants involved from trying to get their domestic shinobi to turn on Konohagakure -- an even stupider possible consequence of that kid not being kept in check.
"And I thought our clan politics were stupid."
no subject
Gently she pats his shoulder and nods in agreement. The politics of the clans were a bit on the ridiculous side. And some of the internal politics were even worse. "They can be. But not a whole lot would get done without them." It was just a way of life and would be she imagined for a long time to come. But they at least didn't have the problem that he dealt with while on his mission.
no subject
In all honesty, he suspects the kid's mother had something to do with it, but he'd wanted to wash his hands of the whole thing rather than dig into that, especially with the way she'd turned up in the guest room.
Sasuke sighs, in the end. "I know, it's just ..." He hunts for the word, absently rifling the edges of the now-sorted papers. "It's so inefficient."
no subject
She nods, "It's inefficient because all the clans have needs that they aren't willing to compromise. It's frustrating but each clan head is doing what they believe is best for their clan." She's sure he knows this already also. The clans were a complicated system that could either work together (and more often than not they did) for the betterment of the village or against each other to achieve their own interests. It was frustrating.
"You know it'll only change if the people running the clans are of different mindsets."
no subject
"Too bad it's disloyal to hope that you and Itachi take over soon," he said, but a bit of fond humour finally found its way into his tone.
no subject
"I think your brother will take over before it's even a thought in my father's head to retire." But she smiles as she speaks because the simple fact was, in comparison to Itachi she was probably still considered young and inexperienced, even if she's probably attended more clan and village negotiations than him in the last year alone. Or maybe he hung in the background so people like her just thought that. She couldn't be entirely sure with the Uchiha heir.
i cannot get my verb tenses together i'm sorry
Though Sasuke has his suspicions about how much Itachi is actually looking forward to it -- even if he fully believes that Itachi will be an excellent clan head in time, Sasuke doesn't delude himself as to what his brother enjoys doing. As far as Sasuke can remember of their recent, rare interactions, Itachi's been more excited to come up with genjutsu to upset would-be chuunin than he has about meetings between clan heads.
He's sure there's some kind of lesson in there, though, about the risk of an heir too eager to take power versus someone like Itachi, who worked his way up through the ranks first.
and i apologize for the ridiculous run-on before
She pauses a moment and then checks for incoming genin, surely it's almost time that the first stage come to an end. She glances at Sasuke, "Should I make the announcements for stage two or would you like to do it?"
no subject
He remembers late that they're supposed to be administering a portion of the exam, not making small-talk, and his expression shifts to one of distaste as he surveys the genin gathered so far.
"If you make the announcement, they're going to feel encouraged," he says, giving Hinata a sidelong glance. "I should probably do it."
no subject
"Alright. Just don't terrify them too much."
no subject
"Do you remember the speech we got when we took our exam?" He points it out just before the first of the gathered genin are in earshot, expression amused, before he wipes his face blank and turns to face the crowd with an appropriately Uchiha-cold expression.
"Listen up," he says, holding up the forms. "Your name will be on one of these forms. You can sign them or not. From the look of you, I suggest most of you should go with not. No matter how much of a hotshot you think you are for getting here, this will be beyond anything you've seen so far.
"Most of you are going to fail. Of those who fail, most won't even come back, and you shouldn't. If you're not ready to die, go home."
no subject
There was the expected moment of silence once he finished and then there was the mad rush of the entrants that were too confident in their abilities at the desk. A flurry of names shouted as she passed out matching forms. Even that eventually died away and the there was silence again as the next wave of genin pondered if they were truly ready to give the next portion a try.
"You're a horrible person," She's teasing mostly as she organizes the signed forms.
