[closed] Being confused, falling asleep
Who: Hyuuga Neji & Temari
Where: Sunagakure
When: May 14th
Notes: Concerned for Temari, Neji takes a mild detour in search of her. Things don't go very well.
Blindfolded eyes run a quick search through the sandswept village, sunbleached buildings fade into whitewashed outlines interspersed with deepening gray shadows as the Byakugan seeks out one particular blue signature out of hundreds of others winding through the streets before dusk.
It feels familiar, in the way the lens filters over crowds and instead looks for her sharp body language and tufts of light hair- like she might be trying to blend out of recognition and this is just another one of their usual games.
But the weight in his stomach knows better, thrown off by the tone of their previous exchange through letters. Her father's dead- murdered- and Kankuro is Sunagakure's new Kazekage. The village is recovering, standing on the brink of war with a too-young Kage expected to lead them through this crisis and the rest that will soon follow. Small wonder why so few were happy about the face-saving squad from Konoha sent to entreat the new Kazekage.
To say he's concerned is an understatement, but for all he excels in diplomacy, Neji has his own reasons for tagging along- reasons he's sure Kankuro understood relatively immediately and didn't particularly appreciate. But he'd leave the actual talking to Adela and Tenten, and attempt to sort out any personal business before he unintentionally ruins any of their progress.
The white sun beats down on his back, and it's another few minutes of sweating in silence before he finally finds her.
He's on the darkened street in the next moment, weaving through exceedingly narrow, shadowed alleys and circles an exaggerated path around the central Kazekage tower before he dares to approach her.
"Temari," he says, pulling the blindfold from his eyes and allowing the veins to recede. "I came as quickly as I could gain the clearance to do so." Obito hadn't been particularly thrilled to include him on this mission, but he'd been very insistent.
"..How is everything?"
