Where: The country of Ame
When: The entire month of April
Notes: Basically, Nagato's health has been improving lately so you'll be able to catch him out and about pretty much anywhere in the country, be it borders or around the city. He's always accompanied by his Deva path, and you might get said path first. In other words, hello, ~~come get trolled~~.

Nagato had been restless lately. The months before this, it hadn't been such a worrying thing, just him consolidating his energy to reverse the damage he'd done to himself by overextending, but now... now he just wanted to be out. Out where he could interact more directly with the contact rain in his country, where he could watch his people without needing to send his paths out to do it for him...

This meant that people who had never really gotten to meet him before, in spite of having been in Ame since he'd taken control, were finally getting the chance to see him face to face, instead of simply being in contact with his paths.

An escort to the border? Wasn't that...friendly. Itachi didn't tense, but he shook his head. "There's really no need, and I'm sure you have more important duties than seeing a random ninja on his way." Unless that was his job--making sure strangers didn't loiter anywhere they weren't supposed to. Very friendly indeeed.

"Ah, peace." She smiles at the ironic tone of her answer. Of all the people to drag peace into the world, it had to be Kushina, "Peace and calm, hm..."

Some days, it seemed like he was too busy to spend time around his little sister. She was reaching that age now, too, where he himself recalled being either really rebellious or really driven. And frankly, they may as well have been the same person when it came to that.

When he was home, it was often tasked to him to care for her, either by his parents or by he himself. Such was today, and such was another day where she had run off into the rain like a terror, shrieking in her laughter. "Oi, oi, chibi-chama, get back here! I'm going to catch you~!" His voice was quite sing-song, and he'd stood at the door for some time to give her a head start. "I'll have her back by dinner!" That, of course, had been called back into the house.

So it came that he did finally catch her, hefting the slender six-year-old over his shoulder despite her protests. "Aa, but chibi-chama, now we have to get you home and washed before dinner! You'll have to let your valiant knight carry you, unless you make a promise to go straight home." He grinned more broadly as she squirmed, lowering her into a princess-carry position. "Can't have your mother worrying about her little princess, ne?"

He watched him for a moment, then spread his hands, settling his weight back on his heel. Since he'd stopped using most of his Paths regularly, he'd returned to using the abilities himself. It made for... rather interesting battle tactics that he hadn't truly used in the same way before.

It also meant that he might perhaps come off a bit... too at ease.

"My duties are well in hand, I assure you." The murmur was soft, full of secret humor as he studied the man, taking him in with a thoughtful air. "I will not slow you."

He blinked, then a low chuckle escaped him. "I can say that is not the case here. You have a novel view of such things."

He hadn't expected to have a child breeze right past him like that, but it made him smile when he saw one of his jounin picking the girl up. Ah. One of the ones with a protective spirit. He shook his head slightly and adjusted his cloak before slipping forward into the rain, looking from the man to the little one thoughtfully.

"I get the sense the young lady rather liked her game." His tone was light though, quietly pleased that his people, any of his people, could fell relaxed enough to play.

"Would I be blamed for holding optimism at such a time as this?" She rolls her eyes at his show of amusement, a smirk touching her lips, "You have to admit, the situation has gotten slightly better in some perspectives."

He had turned at the sound of a voice, and any tenseness that had formed in him melted almost immediately when he realised who it was. His sister, who had been playfully struggling to climb out of his arms, turned her attention to Nagato and grinned broadly. All spitfire and excitement at the age of six, she was. 'Yeah! Nii-san never lets me win, though... but I'll be faster than him soon! AND a better ninja!'

"Oi, now. You're going to make me look bad in front of kami-sama." With a laugh, he shifted her in his arms. "Now, there's still a bit of time before dinner, so why don't you see if mother needs any help? I'll be along soon, promise." He pressed a kiss to her forehead before setting her down. "We can play again later."

'Ooooi! I don't wanna!' Puffing out her cheeks, the little girl crossed her arms. 'Ne, ne, why don't we all play?!' Orile paused, glancing to Nagato briefly and then back to his sister.

"Well, that's not up to me, now is it?" he mused. It felt... strange, feeling this light and non-serious around Nagato. Up til now, his every action near his leader had been done with that unerring seriousness of a man on a mission. "If he says no, then you'll have to go back home and we'll play later." His voice was stern enough, though a smile played at his lips.

'But--' Huffing, she turned her attention from her brother to the cloaked man. 'Pleeeeeeeeease?' Ah. There she went, with the puppy-dog eyes.

Tilting his head slightly, Abel studied his lord before springing into action. The blood scythe whistled through the air as he attacked the God of Ame. He had to ignore the voice that was screaming in his head that he was attacking his lord and the God of the Land, but his lord had been quite insistent at sparring with him.

It would be interesting to see how far Abel had come since he first crossed blades with his lord's Paths a decade earlier.

"Has it?" He was examining her, expression settling into a rather thoughtful expression. "It would appear to be so, but so far as I understand it, your Kushina had very little to do with that part of things."

Nagato gave the girl a look of utmost seriousness then, not even attempting to lower himself to her level and instead just giving a rather even stare from above. It was purely practical though as he had no intention of hopping down into the mud.

Nope.

He made a mental note to get the streets rebricked as soon as possible to cut down on that.

"I have no idea how your game is even played. You only just crossed my path after all."

Considering the Paths were more limited than he himself? The comparison might seem a bit... skewed. Still, Abel attacked, and Nagato dodged. After all, he didn't intend to let the man catch him right off, and he wanted his nin to actually put his heart into it.

He could still read some hesitation. What better way to reassure him than to simply not get hit?

As the blade missed, Abel spun the shaft to strike out with the butt of the scythe while readying the scythe for a second blow. There was less hesitation in his actions this time as he focused more on 'opponent' and less on 'God of Ame'.

Pleased, he made sure to evade again, spinning away on graceful feet as he let himself get a bit faster, reading his movements and tracking him without any difficulty. He wasn't attempting to taunt, not yet, of course. He just wanted the man to relax.

"I never meant to imply that." A native would generally always be faster at navigating the terrain than a stranger. There wasn't anyway Itachi could really refuse, was there?

Itachi bowed from the waist. "Thank you." He might as well be gracious about it.

He gave a low, soft laugh, inclining his head slightly in turn. It never once occurred to him to bow likewise.

After all, he was far further up the totem pole than that here. "There is no need for thanks. It is, after all, as it should be that I keep an eye on things like this."

A delighted purr rumbled in his throat, and Abel nicked his other hand on one of the spikes decorating the scythe. When he swung the scythe again, he also flung some blood senbon where he suspected Nagato was going to be. He could feel the delight of facing off against a worthy opponent starting to sparkle in his veins.

This was going to be a magnificent fight.

This time he simply raised a hand, flinging the projectiles back at the man without moving, a small, amused smile on his lips now that the man had relaxed. Good. Sometimes, he knew, even faith wouldn't keep someone from underestimating him with this face.

Then he stepped closer and did it again, sending the man flying without even touching him.

Itachi wondered what exactly he meant by "things like this." Ninja where they shouldn't be? Keeping visitors from getting lost? Exactly how was this man viewing Itachi's intrusion in his area?

And, more importantly, who was the red-head? His lack of bowing could be rudeness, an injury, or he was that high in the hierarchy.

"That's very prudent of you."

He managed to twist around to first avoid the senbon before grunting as he was tossed through the air. Another twist and he landed on his feet. He barely paused before launching himself at Nagato again, this time his attack proceeded by several kunai with explosive tags. The hope was to get the other to move into Abel's attack.

Not that he fully expected it to work wit the God of Ame.

"Yes... but it is my responsibility to tend to this country, after all." He gave another laugh, tilting his head to the side enough that his rinnegan was more obvious. "I'm sure you understand Shinobi-san."

He waved a hand, a tiger leaping forth from nothing to deflect the flurry as he raised a hand, blasting the man back again with chakra, head canting almost thoughtfully as he tested out some abilities he hadn't used in a while.

"Must people rebut my bouts of optimism? Would people prefer it for me to continue through pessimism and nagging?" She sighs in a soft, mock annoyance, clearly meaning no insult by saying so, "Maybe, maybe not."

Abel spun through the air again, and he heaved the scythe as his opponent. A quick slash of both hands had twin swords appearing and he decided he was going to have to utilize all of his tricks to score a hit. The next time he raced at Nagato, he did a quick substitution jutsu to appear behind him.
