[closed] mission report
Who: Sasuke
Where: Land of Grass
When: June 1st-5th
What: Within is the mission report of one Uchiha Sasuke, who never wants to have kids after this. Everything is in standard Konoha-nin code current as of June.
[Written neatly, if hastily, but the notes show a great deal of annoyed pressure.]
Date: June 1
Objective: Acquire client and any additional information. Objective achieved.
Description of steps taken to achieve objective: Met client at rendezvous and took A- into custody. Received detailed route of travel and A-'s supplies for week.
Notes: Departed Konoha late afternoon of May 31; reached rendezvous point late evening in preparation for morning meeting. We were attacked within an hour of setting out. No village forehead protectors, likely freelancing low-level shinobi, but not what was detailed in parametres. A- scared but not surprised; he assumed I should have been expecting it. Clearly client failed to specify on mission request. Attackers were a small group, eliminated easily. Bought time until whoever sent them realizes they didn't come back, took to smaller paths instead of main road afterward anyway. Level of detail in client-provided map makes sense now.
Extra notes: Travelling without visible village identifying marks to avoid sparking hostility with Grass-nin. No sign of Sound-nin in the area.
[Still written neatly, though there is darker pressure here and there as if the writer were irritated. Strike-throughs are scribbled out, but a dedicated reader can still make out the words.]
Date: June 2
Objective: Deliver client to destination. Objective not achieved.
Description of steps taken to achieve objective: Attempted to avoid attackers by avoiding main road. Due to attack, forced to take roundabout route.
Notes: Camped off-road despite A-'s complaints. Woke up to attack nonetheless. Bigger group this time, same non-affiliated gear. Assume hired militia at this point. Numbers too great to eliminate without taking attention from A-, forced to retreat under fire cover. Used generic Katon; Grass forensics will be unable to trace to any Uchiha-specific techniques. Haven't seen any Grass-nin anyway.
A- obviously more used to being attacked than indicated in parametres; he knows the area and militia shows familiarity with geography. Local effort. Attempted to get more information from him but he refused.A- is a damn brat who thinks a guard is a personal servant. A- seems accustomed to being under guard.
Based on timing and setup of attack, militia information center is east. Detouring west will take us a day off schedule but into more thickly-travelled area; hope to lose our tail there.
[Hastily written.]
Date: June 3
Objective: Deliver client to destination. Objective achieved with complications.
Description of steps taken to achieve objective: Delivered A- to residence indicated on parametres late evening.
Notes: Successfully avoided attack by same militia. Attacked instead late morning by different militia a mile short of main road. More organized, higher shinobi-to-civilian ratio, still no village markings. Tactics to capture A- but without attempts to keep him alive. A- appeared genuinely scared, possibly new development. Numbers such that forced to retreat. Minor wounds taken, treated.
Priority being to reach destination above all, took to main road after lunch under henge. Members of both militias scouring traffic. Destination obviously known to all. A- beingunusually compliant, blended in with migrant worker traffic to enter city centre. Militia fell away within three miles of destination after failing to locate us.
Delivered A- to 'guardian' indicated on mission parametres only to learn that 'guardian' not the person listed as A-'s guardian in official records. 'Guardian' contracting mission is uncle. Kidnapping A- is apparently normal. A- failed to disclose he knew we were going to said uncle's residence. Client liaison working for uncle. Message arrived within an hour from A-'s father demanding return of A-. A-'s father aware that Konoha-nin was contracted; threatened to sour trade relations if not returned. Militia 1 sent by A-'s father; militia 2 caused uncle some concern as he was not expecting it.
A-'s uncle/kidnapper/mission client determined to take A- and visit father to seek custody. Demanded I stay on to fulfill contract maintaining A-'s safety.Tempted to tell him to stick it Agreed to do so with aim to preserve Konoha's trade in area. Both A-'s father and uncle apparently important in local economy.
[Looks like it was written in candlelight, growing messier toward the end.]
Date: June 4
Objective: Escort client and client's uncle to client's father. Objective achieved.
Description of steps taken to achieve objective: Departed client's house and arrived at A-'s fathers house late evening.
Notes: Departed early morning with complement of household guards. Militia 1 apparently notified A- returning; did not see any of their group on the way.
Household guards turned out to be mostly useless against militia 2 late morning. Their objective again appeared to be A-, alive or dead; however attack abated after A-'s uncle revealed himself. A- clearly viewed as disposable political piece of some sort, uncle less disposable. Minor wounds sustained, treated. A- and uncle unharmed.
Speed being priority, continued along same route at client's insistence despite clearly being tailed.I hate civilians Client evidently believed attacks would cease after having seen him. Attacks ceased until client left to purchase lunch. Took A- and hid him until client returned. Client addressed searching militia in panic; militia 2 claimed removal or death of A- would end rivalry between client and A-'s father and restore stability to region. A- confirmed this bullshit behaviour has been consistent as long as he can remember. A- implied his father may not be his father but did not confirm. Returned to camp once client convinced militia 2 to wait until agreement worked out between brothers.
Arrived at A-'s father's without further incident. A- frankly takes after uncle more than father, but mostly takes after mother.A-'s mother likes to stand far too close to me A-'s mother very welcoming, grateful for A-'s safety. Client and father attempted to argue but A-'s mother ended argument with insistence that A- go to bed. Glad to have A- off my hands released A- to mother's custody with permission of client.
The hour being late, A-'s mother insisted I stay until morning. Entered room prepared for me to find her on the bed. She provided more details about situation until Ikicked her out requested she leave.
Her information: A-'s father wealthier. Uncle catching up. Uncle's staff recommended hiring one ranked shinobi, not local to prevent political interference; father's staff preferred to spend more on quantity of militia. Uncle believes A- would benefit from his custody. Father obviously in disagreement but unable to present argument.Frankly they are both enormous idiots over a brat.
[Written with heavy pressure.]
Date: June 5
Objective: Ensure stability of Konoha's interests in area. Objective achievedfor now because they are squabbling children.
Description of steps taken to achieve objective: Confirmed situation with client and A-'s father. Mediated solution.
Notes: Woken before dawn to mediate. Apparently I am an uninterested party. Both men very concerned when I explained behaviour of militia 2, motivated by threat to A-'s life to seek compromise of some sort. Informed them theywere stupid were compromising regional stability with quarrel. A-'s mother joined later in morning to raise her own objections as well; also displeased with militia 2's involvement and concerned for A-'s safety.
Conclusion at end of discussion was joint custody for benefit of A-, with A-'s mother serving as intermediary and travelling with him. Client annoyed but willing to accept solution. A-'s father same. A-'s mother and A- probably most pleased.
A-'s mother invited me to celebratory lunch but I chose to departbecause they were crazy.
[A sleepy scrawl, messier and messier until the last sentence looks like it was written while actually asleep.]
Conclusion: Militia 2's involvement inspired compromise. As long as threat to A-'s safety remains, compromise likely to remain. Konoha's interests stable provided A- does not get killed somehow. Chief concern to maintain is if militia 2 and/or its funders decide area is stable and disbands, allowing client and A-'s father to return to feuding.
No shinobi from other nations sighted. Even for that area of the country, it was unusual. Militia 1 roughly 4:1 civilian to shinobi-trained. Militia 2 roughly 2:1 civilian to shinobi-trained. Neither any threat, local talent.
Recommendations: Recommend to maintain updates from region on semi-annual basis. On update review status of militia 2. Review presence of affiliated shinobi.
Recommend scrutiny of requests from client. Client shows willingness to withhold information to get cheaper mission.
Recommend to not have illegimate kids. Kids are brats.
