"I shall do my best!" Gai promised, giving Kakashi a playful little roughing up in the spirit of 'pinning' him in place. Any elbows to his chest, face, or otherwise were taken in stride and met with the same foolishly happy grin Gai always had while challenging his Rival to the more lighthearted of their games. "Come now, Rival! Do not complain of unfairness! Surely a genius such as yourself can work with a little bit of a handicap!"

He was watching them both with such a dopey smile. A full Kakashi and a soon-to-be well-fed Obito. This was happiness. This is what they needed--to be spoiled a little, to escape, to just be themselves. Seeing them like this was what refreshed Gai's spirit.
