Itachi had a certain way of dealing with people brimming with confidence like Kiba, that was, to let them stumble and learn the error of their ways. If he wanted to appoint himself leader, that was fine, but when he eventually came to a problem it would be his own matter.

Ah, but this was a team effort, after all. He couldn't let him do that and risk them a scarf that could make a difference, could he.
