A piece to the puzzle falls into place
Who: Neji and Temari.
What: They need to talk.
Where: Konoha Gates and places.
When: December 5, before the party.
She’d gone back and forth at least a dozen times over the course of her trip about this. Sure there was no denying that she was attracted to Neji, and after their last exchange she was hard pressed to believe that certain unsaid things might not be returned. She’d practically said as much several times since he’d gone to Suna for a mission. One she’d requested personally to ensure the right Konoha shinobi was sent for the job. Their exchanges hadn’t lacked in hints to the other. Nor had their best attempts at being subtle really been subtle at all.
In the end, her internal arguing was put to rest only by the appearance of the main gate into Konoha. At this point, turning around to make her stomach stop roiling wouldn’t really help much. Honestly, now that there were chances she didn’t understand why she was so nervous. Or maybe that was exactly the point. There were chances and ways to so completely screw up this unrelationship that she wasn’t entirely sure taking the chance was worth it.
Sure she’d teased, flirted. She’d initiated. Just- It wasn’t supposed to be like this. When she started their game it was just a training exercise. A way for Temari to pass the long hours of being watched while in Konoha. She hadn’t really planned for the development of any sort of attraction. Even now as she made her way through the streets to the restaurant there was a level of urgency in her steps. She wanted it all laid out. She needs to know where they stand exactly now that there’s nothing in the way.
Not that she didn’t have ideas but some clarity couldn’t hurt. She was sort of amazed he hadn’t been there when she’d arrived but it was fine. She was aware that there was probably someone following her. And after travelling the winding streets she ducked into the restaurant, teal eyes searching the gathered customers for Neji. She’d join in celebrating of sorts once she got him to talk. When she finally spotted him across the room, Temari adjusted her fan on her back and made her way over.
She offered the person he was talking to a polite smile before interjecting, “Excuse me but I need to borrow Hyuuga-san here a moment.” She’d rather get this part over with before she really got involved in the party. However much of the party she decided to actually participate in. “In private.”
