The issue of punishment and paperwork was steadily out of sight, out of mind as Kakashi eased him off his path. Gai welcomed and returned the lean, content even just to brush against each other.

He huffed and grumbled, but for the first time in a while things felt normal. "Why are you not at the Academy?! Are you--" Scandalized gasp! "--ditching?!"

As for breakfast, Gai suspected that, perhaps, his careless Rival would find that he had forgotten his wallet by the time the bill came. He honestly didn't care if he ended up paying. Buying out the entire breakfast menu would be worth it to spend a nice morning with Kakashi. Another week's worth of paperwork would be worth it. He didn't really want to upset Obito but... He would understand.
