It was difficult to bring oneself down from that high so quickly. Gai had no experience with another partner, and very little with unfinished resolutions like this, and everything combined with Obito's climax had keyed his body up for...something that didn't come. Suddenly, it was over, and though he was not surprised, he was. It was his own choice/fault, of course, but now he felt a little like a live-wire, like he was ready for a challenge, still hot-blooded and bothered and unsure what to do with himself. Or what to do with the sticky mess on his hands, or the handsome and flushed-cheeks man in his arms.
He could feel Obito's embarrassment in his heated cheeks, in the way he clung, and Gai gave him a few moments, holding him in his arms and shielding Obito (in his rumpled state and obvious embarrassment) from the ANBU, then he pressed a kiss to his cheek. What did one say now? I am sorry I was overeager? Perhaps, but that was not entirely honest. He wasn't sorry for his own excitement, though he was sorry it had an outcome that embarrassed Obito.
When Obito finally lifted his head, he smiled and blushed, his own awkwardness settling in with a hint of a laugh. That was not nearly as romantic as Gai might have expected of their first time, but he was not disappointed.
