The Year End Party | Dec 31st | [Open to Konoha]

Where: Rooftop of Mika's apartment complex
Note: Guests are expected to bring a small gift and a refreshment or dish. Food is provided by the host.~


No one can say that Mika was a bad host. She'd gone to great lengths for this party having cooked a ridiculous amount of pastries and ordering several bottles of sake to serve hot on this chilly night. The grill was on high and the meats were all carefully arranged on a table separate from the other foods. Small lanterns were strung up around the tables for ambiance. As the final touches were completed people slowly trickled up to the party. They'd notice the table of sweets first thanks to one of Mika's greatest accomplishments in baking.

A five tiered cake in alternating flavors of vanilla and chocolate! Each layer had a complimentary fruit garnishing it atop a rich ganache frosting. Probably the most decadent cake many would eat that year.

Scene A

The party wasn't too crowded, about thirty or so were there and the group was grazing about and having light conversation. Mika was weaving through the clusters of guests, asking if they needed anything, making sure everyone had some sort of drink and food to eat.

"Ne, you need some more sake? Juice? Cake??" She really wanted that cake eaten.

Scene B

Time for the gift exchange! Mika had gotten a few extras in case others forgot. She didn't want anyone to feel left out. The pile was modest and as each guest came up to pick the pile dwindled. Only a few boxes stood on the table and Mika made sure to go last as the host. Some of the gifts were junk, others were surprisingly nice. She hadn't made an explicit price limit and decided that next year she would have to impose one.

Naturally, as host, Mika looked to see what everyone got. "So did you like your gift? Ah, I thought this would be something fun but maybe next year I'll make sure that there's a price limit...I didn't expect such nice gifts!"

Scene C

Everyone gathered for the countdown, food and drink forgotten. The eager host had to make sure all guests at least had something on hand so they could toast to the new year. Small fireworks were prepared [they'd already been approved for use] for midnight and anyone with a significant other was ready for the "first kiss of the year."

Mika was having a dilemma in that regard. Who should she kiss? Would it even be appropriate to kiss anyone? She didn't want to have a partner feel left out! Two women were eyeing her, probably trying to see if Mika would indicate an interest in performing the near ritualistic New Year Kiss. She tried to quickly slip away...until bumping into a guest. Oh dear.

"Sorry! Um, would you mind very much if I hide behind you?" There was less than a minute left until the year ended.

Kakashi arrived on the rooftop in a reasonably timely fashion, having marked the date on his internal calendar when Rin had informed him she'd taken the liberty of inviting him. Predictably, he didn't dare disappoint her, and had turned up wearing his typical jounin blues, apparently failing to even spare a thought for dressing formal, or even dressing down. As an afterthought - one that came when he saw the dress code for the crowd around him - before entering the party proper Kakashi untied and shed himself of his hitai-ate, safely pocketing it. There, now at least he looked a little more casual...

Armed with a bottle of fine sake as a gift (and one for himself since his taste was particularly picky) he proceeded forwards to scan and greet the faces he recognised. He was only intending to stay for a short while; long enough to be polite, to show his face and actually mingle for once, and then it would be home for him before the fireworks started.

Obito had gotten to the party early. Somehow, he'd managed to run into someone who needed help balancing things to carry to the party, so he'd shown up before the official start time. Of course, that meant he was running around saying hello to everyone. Of course, that also meant that he'd had time to make himself a comfortable spot at a table that he kept returning to for a drink or snack off his plate.

He didn't intend to stay the whole night at all, but it was still good to be able to say hi to everyone before he left.
