The touch was welcome and Yamato shifted to blink blearily up at the other man, propping his chin on the pillow he'd clutched to his chest. The accompanying words had him hunching his shoulders though, as if trying to hide from how quickly his mind had fallen into doubt.

"..I know."

Because he did, truly, but self preservation was hard to quell, especially when it concerned his emotions and the still naive shades of his heart. All but two that he'd let close to him, had left their mark, but he wasn't prepared to make the same blunder with Kakashi as he'd done Obito, not this time around and caught up the older mans hand from it's place in his hair.

Slim knuckles received a kiss and another before he tucked Kakashi's palm against his cheek, capturing it between still heated skin and the softness of his pillow as if by way of apology for his lack of trust.
