Both gestures were tantamount to Kakashi proposing to someone in public, but so subtle that a casual on looker wouldn't give it a second glance. Luckily, there were no onlookers here, even in a village full of shinobi, so there was no one else to witness Yamato reach the couch in quick steps and curl up, blanket and all, under the protective shelter of Kakashi's arm.

The jounin was fever hot, even through the blanket around his shoulders and Yamato pressed flush to his side, tucking his feet up under himself and soaking up that warmth and the comfort it offered.

He was out of words for the moment, but the tremble in his frame said more than any stunted explanations could and Yamato let his body shake out the distress he'd been suppressing since Kiri.
