The shoulder bump causes the briefest flicker of a smile and Gale reaches out to offer her a particularly succulent portion of meat. It upsets Vayu, but makes him feel... good at the same time, so Gale ignores the urgings at the back of his mind. Vayu is getting food, so there's really nothing to be upset about.

Then he picks up his own next portion to tear into and considers the suggestion. The suggestion makes sense, and the result can't be worse than leaving it. With the current temperature, it will rot in short order, and if it rots while sealed, as well, there's nothing they can do to prevent it just yet. They are sure to find a way once they have time to experiment.

"It will be an experiment. We can seal it in several different portions and remove them at separate times to see how long it lasts sealed."
