Her missive asked that they meet for late afternoon- if it fit into Obito's schedule. She didn't want to interrupt if he had work to do. Granted Hinata expected that there was always work to do, so she didn't actually really expect her sensei to be free on those occasions to did ask to see him. She stood in the middle of the training field she'd reserved, remaining idle for only a few moments now that she arrived. She wouldn't waste the time. If her sensei couldn't make it that was alright.

With a breath she settled into a crouch and then launched into a string of common kata to warm up. Eventually working through the movements of some of the more complicated jyuken moves and the 64 palms. There was always a little thrill when she completed that one given how long it had taken to master. The real trick though would be comboing in the Twin Lion Fists. And that was part of the reason she wanted to see her sensei, she wanted to show him what she'd accomplished on her own.

While she moved she gathered chakra to her hands expelling it out to form shrouds around her fists to strike at an imaginary opponent.

On noting that it was a training date, of sorts, he'd popped by his house to drop off his robes on his way there... and subsequently got waylaid by a lost four-year-old. It had, admittedly, made him a bit late, but he still thought he'd made reasonably good time, arriving in time to see her in the middle of some kind of attack.

It was interesting, and he leaned on a tree, deciding not to interrupt her.

She whirls just finishing another combo, the shrouds fading from around her fists. Pushing her hair back behind her shoulder she turns and stops short. She hadn't noticed Obito arrive. Chewing on her lower lip, Hinata takes a few steps toward her sensei. "How long have you been there, sensei?"

"Not too long. I thought you might see me." He waved absently at his face. "You seemed pretty in tune and all."

She might have in the peripheral, an awareness that he was watching that was quickly replaced by her focus on her task. Sometimes seeing everything meant you tuned a great deal out, it was an unfortunate side-effect. "I might have."

He watched her a moment at that, then burst out into laughter. "Ah, the Byakugan strikes again huh?"

She flushes, pouting a little as her gaze shifts to the side. "Yeah I guess it does."

He grinned at her and moved over to put his hand on her head. "Don't feel bad."

[gentledheart]

"I'll try." She ducks her head and steps a little away. "How much did you see?"

"I saw part of some nifty maneuver but I think I missed a bit of it. Care to walk me through it or have I ruined the surprise?" He dropped his hand, amused at the tacit dodge.

[gentledheart]

"I've mentioned I was working on something. The shrouds are a derivation meant to take advantage of my own flexibility and chakra control." With a little focus she expels chakra out to cover her hand again, the face of a lion forming over her knuckles.

He tilted his head, peering at the chakra as she made it visible, and let out a soft little laugh. "What do you plan to name it?"

[gentledheart]

She shrugs, "I haven't decided yet. Something with lions feels appropriate."

"Just don't let Sensei know you haven't named it. He'll give you a novel and call it a name. A cheesy, horrible novel at that." He wrinkled up his nose. "He tried to name an attack once in my hearing. It was something to the degree of 'vibrant fire immolating death in the light of ponies' or something. Just. Longer. So much longer."

"Was he now?" She laughs, "That's a little worrisome. I'll have to come up with a name immediately."

[thebestuchiha]

"Best for you to do that." He laughed and shook his head. "I wouldn't want him to know if I were you."

[gentledheart]

She takes a moment to think a moment and shrugs. "Gentle Step Twin Lion Fists," she finally says with a nod.

He blinked a couple times, then just laughed. "Nice. I didn't think he'd just appear to name it on you buuut... problem solved!" He looked around the training field, then back to her. "So. I'm guessing you wanting to show me means you're up to using it in a fight?"

Well she hadn't really expected him to show either, but the name had just sort of rolled off the tongue before she could think better of it. "I had thought it would be worth trying it. If's better than sparring against thin air."

He laughed and then moved over to settle into a stance. There was a grin on his lips. "Come on then."

He was always happy to see what his students could do... and frustrate them half to death playing keep away too, of course.

She tilts her head and shrugs. If he insists. Though he hopefully remembers the last time he frustrated her half to death. She raises her hands and charges forward, ready to strike though she fully expects it not to connect.

It was easy to fall into the rhythm of practice, having long ago learned to read her motions, though she was faster than last time they practiced, and there was a fleeting moment of sadness he'd been too busy to notice her improvements sooner. He didn't talk though, giving her that much respect as he focused fully on just not letting a hit land, or near land, and worked on finding a hole in her defenses of any kind.
