Who: Natsumi and Itachi
When: Backdated to about 9 years ago
Where: Hospital
Notes: Backstory

"You've had a rough day, Natsumi-chan," the mednin said kindly. "We'll be keeping you overnight just to make sure none of the spider's venom got into your wounds. In the meantime, get some rest."

Get some rest? Yeah, right, Natsumi thought to herself. How am I supposed to sleep after my cousin nearly got eaten by a monster spider? She kept that to herself, instead asking after her cousin's well being. "Kichirou...is he...?"

"He's been given an antidote for the venom and he's taking well to it. He'll be in the hospital for a few days, but he will get better. Please don't worry."

The calm and pleasant middle-aged mednin had plenty of reassuring words and good advice that Natsumi wouldn't be taking. How could she not worry? Kichirou nearly died. Her younger cousin that she'd promised to protect had been so badly hurt. Maybe if she'd watched him better instead of dallying to talk to her friends in the schoolyard, those idiots wouldn't have dared him to go into the Forest of Death. All the horrible possibilities of what could have gone wrong played out in her mind, each one worse than the last.

Her mind was racing too much to get any rest just yet, so she picked up a hand mirror and tried to activate her brand new Sharingan. The ten year old girl's nose wrinkled as she concentrated until at last her eyes turned red, each with a single tomoe. She turned it off. Then on again. Off once more. She was so distracted by her new bloodline limit that she didn't even notice the quiet footsteps of a visitor entering her hospital room.

It was quite an occassion when another member of their clan awakened their Sharingan, and Itachi understood what it was like to almost lose a sibling, or a cousin. He'd actually taken the time out of his schedule to come pay her a visit, and pointers, perhaps, should she seek them.

"I see you're testing it out." he mentions, taking a seat beside the bed, quietly.

"That is true." Those who bore the Sharingan were drilled in genjutsu, and taught how to copy movements and accurately predict them. It probably would've been better for her never to awaken it, but. Some things you cannot control.

"I visited to make sure you were healing alright." He specifically doesn't really want to get into a detailed talk about the Sharingan, he feels her health is the more pressing matter.

"In time, it will become a thing of the past." Something that you didn't dwell on too long. If she was going to get into shinobi training, she'd likely...see a lot worse.

That was certainly an oddly placed question, but he thinks it through.

"Yes, but, you'd only be able to replicate the movements you saw. Something new still requires effort on your part." It seemed an odd, but ultimately harmless thing to copy.

Well, he'd be lying if he said he didn't appreciate how optimistic she was.

"I'd suggest watching them in person... though cooking can be more than just movements." He had the Sharingan as well, and he was still a horrible cook.

That earns her a small chuckle. Not everyone was a natural, and gender seemed to have little to do with it...

"I'm sure you will pick it up just fine."
