Peter hadn't intended to be away for his birthday, and just hoped that if anyone had remembered, that they weren't going to be upset with him for not being home on the day itself. He'd been headed that way before he got the lead after all, the day before, and thus it was that early on the 15th of May, on his 18th birthday, Peter took a straight path East instead of north, hopping the seal to somewhere else not Rice on a quest for an obscure, and honestly, not very important scroll. Still, it was a scroll he'd been looking for and that was honestly what mattered here.

She pulls her knees up to her chest and drops her chin onto them. It wasn't that weird was it?

"Yeah, uh moving on?"

He was visibly flustered now though and ended up rubbing at the back of his neck, a flush running wild over his face as he found himself at a complete loss for words.

[sensethis]

The silence holds a few moments while Karin traces her fingers through the grass. She isn't sure what to say next, or what to do with herself here. She didn't have a book conveniently hidden away on her so she couldn't even pretend to read while she figured out what to say.

"So what did you study while becoming a ninja? You know aside from the basics."

"Er, no that was about it actually. I've picked up seals too! It's kind of my best area but yeah. Everything is kind of just... basics? I'm not really bad at anything... or particularly awesome at anything either."

[sensethis]

"You'll have to show me what you can do with seals some time." She grins latching on to their shared specialty.

[lostmarauder]

He gave her a wry smile and shook his head. "Don't expect too much, it's probably nothing near what you've been taught."

[sensethis]

She rolls here eyes, "I'm sure you knew at least a few things I don't."

[lostmarauder]

He blinked, looking at her in surprise before flushing. "Maybe just things I made. Maybe."

[sensethis]

"Probably wouldn't know what you made." She props her elbow on her knee and drops her chin into her hand, waiting.

[lostmarauder]

"Even though it's really simple huh?" He can't have been the only one with the ideas he'd made seals from. It was too simple to miss.

[sensethis]

"Sometimes simple is easy to overlook."

[lostmarauder]

He stared at her, baffled by the very idea. "Sure."

[sensethis]

She makes a face. "Think about it, sometimes we're dealing with a problem and the simple answer can stares us in the face for ages before we realize it."

[lostmarauder]

He gave her the most sheepish of smiles. "That doesn't really happen to me so much."

[sensethis]

"You're lucky, it happens now and again to me."

[lostmarauder]

"I don't know if it's lucky but... I'll take it I guess. Use it to my advantage!"

[sensethis]

"Good."

[lostmarauder]

He studied her for a long moment. "I'm really happy to see you again."

[sensethis]

She smiles, "I am too."

[lostmarauder]

He chewed his lower lip, then gave a sheepish smile. "I don't know what else to say."

[sensethis]

She shrugs. It's okay she doesn't have a whole lot else to say either. "Yeah me too. I shouldn't keep you if have somewhere to be."

[lostmarauder]

"Ah... Yeah I guess I should be on my way. Don't be afraid to send me a letter?"

[sensethis]

"Never now that I know how to reach you."

[lostmarauder]

He flushed immediately and dipped his head slightly, a smile on his lips. "Okay. I'll remember that."

"And the same goes for you, write me."
