Okay, here is how this is going to work! We're starting these threads a whole ten days early! We have a reason for this. Due to schedules, we don't want anyone to feel left out because they couldn't be there on the exact 'day' of the auction. So, we're spreading this out over several days so everyone that wants to participate can. That way, when the IC 26th, 27th, and 28th are going, everyone will already have some idea of what their characters will actually be doing!

How the post itself will work is fairly simple though.

1: Each character whose player put them in for being auctioned will have a thread below. All male characters will have been auctioned in the morning (before noon), and thus will come before the women, who will be in the afternoon.

2: The order the threads are posted in by the mods will be the order which will have people actually auctioned! There will be notations on Player Characters noting prominent people (characters no one is playing) who got auctioned off between so that people know how fast their character spent their money, if their character would have tried to buy up any of said characters. (There's no need to buy any of said characters, mind, it's purely to fill in the gaps.)

3: Have fun! Communicate ooc! If you want a mod to come declare a thread closed, flag Skeren or Youko down so we can do a "going once, going twice, sold" on it so people know they can't roll in and bid anymore. We'll confirm everyone in the thread is actually done bidding before closing it, but all sales are final!

4: All bidding will start at 3,000 Ryo. (Please note this is less than the cheapest price a client would pay for a D-rank mission in Konoha)

A mission did a lot to bring people closer together. Adela was going to do everything in her power to make sure that Ami was looked after in the aftermath of their mission to tea country, determined to always watch her comrade's back. Ami had acted well during the mission, even if she had been scared. Adela had been scared for Ami's safety (with good reason), but it was with a grain of salt that she managed to accept that it was better that they all returned home safely.

So it was with that mindset that Adela was determined to make sure that Ami didn't end up in the hands of some creep, and that meant keeping up the heat of the bidding as much as she could to steer off people that Ami wasn't ready to handle as a genin, "3,500 ryo!"

This auction was a good way to figure out who knew who. Itachi hadn't expected Adela to bid on Ami, and while it might be good for Ami to spend time with another girl, Itachi still bid.

"5,000 ryo."

Adela he could understand, but-- Itachi why?!

"40,000." Because she deserved time with her sensei, and he was out to prove he wasn't exactly dodging spending time with her. He'll have to buy time with her if he had to, wow.

But-- Itachi no.

Well, Shisui had obviously proven how much he valued his student. Itachi looked at the tiny genin and gave Shisui a smirk. Half the fun of this auction was turned out to be messing with Shisui. He really needed to remember to do this more often.

"48,000 ryo." It wasn't was if Itachi were ever home enough to spend much money anyway.

"50,000." Oh look, he's pouting now. "Hey." And here he was trying to be nice and let Sasuke win time with his brother, away from the foreign shinobi--

"The fact that you and your student have bid on each other when you should be spending so much time together you're sick of each other perhaps says you're not fulfilling your duties as her sensei properly," Itachi responded to Shisui with the same sly smirk. Today, Shisui deserved everything he got, and Itachi had no problem dishing it out to him.

"51,000 ryo." Itachi said, and then added in a muttered aside to Shisui. "So maybe you should let her spend time with someone who'll take her training a little more seriously." What sounded like a deadly insult was really just a playful jab. Shisui had been in responsible for a good deal of Itachi's training, because nothing had been better to Itachi than training with Shisui.

He'd been so cool and awesome.

Obviously his old age was catching up with him.

Unfortunately, that 'playful jab' went right over the top of his head. Ami herself had misunderstood things the other day; enough to make her think she was having to compete for his attention, when that honestly hadn't been the case at all. His little student had to work on her attitude some, which was a whole other matter.

Said playful jab hurt, and Shisui's face fell into the familiar mask that he wore when he closed himself off to everyone else.

"If you're the one who's been encouraging her to think I prefer to spend time with other people besides herself, I won't forgive you, Itachi. And-- If you think you can do a better job, and think you won't get too distracted by foreign women, maybe you should officially take over as her teacher."

NEWSFLASH: This was a touchy topic.

Just-- turning back to face the stage now.

"52,000."

As soon as Shisui's facial expression shifted, Itachi drew back, teasing gone, face sobered and eyes a little wide as Shisui spoke. He hadn't expected Shisui to take that personally, and he hadn't expected the low blow either. Of course, a small voice said, if he'd been paying better attention to Shisui, then he would have known not to joke about that. He would have seen the raw nerve before he jabbed it with a barbed needle.

Itachi felt instantly hot, then freezing as he watched Shisui turn away. He felt awful for hurting Shisui, injured that Shisui would use that dig, and sick because maybe it was true. Maybe his helping Ami had undermined Shisui's authority. Itachi really had no business meddling in Shisui's handling of his student, even if he was fond of the girl.

The fun was gone from the game, and Shisui had made his wishes known. Itachi carefully stepped back into the crowd and was gone.

And it appears we're on time bracket number two for this pair. Sold!

What the hell.

Ami hadn't even technically signed up for this—an ex-classmate had used henge to get her up on the block. She hadn't expected any bids; Adela's had been nice, if unexpected, and Itachi's bid had made her duck down behind her collar to hid the pleased curve to her mouth. But this? A sudden octupling?

She could really only stare, dumbstruck, at her teacher.

Hey you. Have a little smile your way. He-- would like to buy some time with his student, since he'd been noticing a few things that were amiss between them thanks to all the misunderstandings and, well, Shisui's secrecy in general.

It was partly the misunderstandings and secrecy, yes, but Ami's own issues with inferiority definitely played a part in the small blow-up that had occurred before the cat mission. He'd be happy to know that she has been reviewing her opinion on the matter over the last few minutes because—

Over 50,000? For her?

Honestly, he could dish out 90,000 and still keep going. But he'd rather spend some cash on their afternoon together-- if he won. Damnit, Itachi.
