The Auction!
Where: Konoha, at the stadium.
When: All day May 25th.
Event Details:
Okay, here is how this is going to work! We're starting these threads a whole ten days early! We have a reason for this. Due to schedules, we don't want anyone to feel left out because they couldn't be there on the exact 'day' of the auction. So, we're spreading this out over several days so everyone that wants to participate can. That way, when the IC 26th, 27th, and 28th are going, everyone will already have some idea of what their characters will actually be doing!
How the post itself will work is fairly simple though.
1: Each character whose player put them in for being auctioned will have a thread below. All male characters will have been auctioned in the morning (before noon), and thus will come before the women, who will be in the afternoon.
2: The order the threads are posted in by the mods will be the order which will have people actually auctioned! There will be notations on Player Characters noting prominent people (characters no one is playing) who got auctioned off between so that people know how fast their character spent their money, if their character would have tried to buy up any of said characters. (There's no need to buy any of said characters, mind, it's purely to fill in the gaps.)
3: Have fun! Communicate ooc! If you want a mod to come declare a thread closed, flag Skeren or Youko down so we can do a "going once, going twice, sold" on it so people know they can't roll in and bid anymore. We'll confirm everyone in the thread is actually done bidding before closing it, but all sales are final!
4: All bidding will start at 3,000 Ryo. (Please note this is less than the cheapest price a client would pay for a D-rank mission in Konoha)

He'd arrived too late to find out who had made the first bid, but the second one was a familiar voice: Kushina, and a Kushina who wasn't looking particularly pleased, either.
Whatever was going on, it was suspicious, but if the price stayed with Kushina, then no harm done. Senses on alert, now, Sasuke scanned the crowd instead of bidding right away, trying to pinpoint the direction of Adela's gaze.

The crowd kept him from being able to precisely identify the source of the voice, but it was enough for him to get a direction.
"35,000," he snapped at the auctioneer, making a face at the gathered people before starting to shove his way through.

Soon, she was cutting through the crowd, over to where Sasuke was making his own path.

"41,000!" Sasuke slowed his steps as he upped his own bid, narrowing his gaze, only to spot a head of red hair heading towards him that didn't belong to the person on stage.
"Kushina-san?" He turned, flagging her down as he diverted his own path to meet her. "Do you know that guy?"

"I've never met him, but I've heard stories. Kirigakure's Silver Terror, best known for the giant sword he carries around. I don't know what he wants with Adela, but I'd rather he not have a chance to be alone with her, even if she's supposed to stay within the village."
She folded her arms and shook her head.
"Listen, I'm stuck with what I have left right now. But if you're willing, we can pool together what we both have."

He did have a tiny bit of loyalty to his former teammate, along with the hope of possibly repairing the chasm between them.

"I'm nearly tapped out. How much do you have left to spend?" Any more than what he'd just bid would be drawing on money he'd never intended to touch today. They were interrupted before he could hear Kushina's answer, however, by yet another silver-haired shinobi.
One clearly much more familiar with the man who was causing Adela distress. Sasuke's stance tensed instinctively, expression suspicious.
"And how exactly do you know?"

He shook his head. "Trust me when I say if he wanted her dead, she never would have made it here."

He glanced at Sephiroth, hoping to catch the man's eye, but with how focused the other silver haired man could get, he didn't expect to succeed.

"I've got about 60,000 left. More if Minato shows up before Rin's auction, but that's not looking likely."
Before the auctioneer can call anything though...
"50,000 ryo!"

Kushina and... Senpai!? It didn't take all of one second for her to turn bright red again, gaping a bit at the turn of events. Senpai was helping bid on her? For her time? That was about when her heart started racing. Just what did that mean? First Sephiroth, now Senpai...
She wasn't sure if her heart could take much more of this!

"We'll max out at a little over 100,000, then," he said with a nod, then adding with finality: "Let's take turns bidding against him so we don't up the price more than we have to. I'll see if he'll give up any answers in the meantime."
He'd spent too long leading Chuunin missions that, in the face of unexpected (if bizarre) thread, it was easy to forget that he was speaking to a superior. Turning, he started heading for the man again, relying on a powerful glare and the occasional clan recognition to work his way through -- only to find that the man had vanished from sight.
No -- not complete. There was a flash of silver hair that had Sasuke outright shoving through the crowd, breaking through the margin in order to chase after the tall figure heading away from the auction ground.
