Sephiroth knew people were following him after he left. After all, he'd made quite the spectacle of himself. So he slowed his steps, and wove his way throught he allowed parts of the village for visitors... and waited to see who caught up to him first.

"You're still my cousin, and my ultimate goal as a ninja. But... I want to still consider you a friend, too," The last words were mumbled and she sighed again, her eyes going to the ground. Damn. It seemed like he wasn't going to go with her after all, so she might as well get out what she needed to as quickly as possible...

"... And this is something I should've said as soon as I could. I'm..."

Her heart pounded harder and louder in her throat, tightening it beyond the capability of breathing before she forced herself to continue speaking again, "I'm sorry, Seph... For leaving you back there. For not saying anything sooner. Just... M'sorry."

"Did you even argue with leaving?" He'd leaned in when she'd stopped talking, almost nose to nose with her and his tone so low she would be the only one to hear.

Huh? She blinked, startled, before speaking without any real thought, "Of course... I was crying a lot, and didn't want to, but uncle and my parents said I had to. I... I didn't learn why until last year."

He narrowed his eyes, staring into her two tone gaze with sheer coldness, then straightened. "I'll accept your offer of food."

Aah... Again, she blinked a couple of times before snapping out of it, nodding as she finally allowed herself to relax a little. He... Seemed to be taking it okay. She'd know if he hadn't, right? So she could finally let herself calm down a little, let her guard down for him, "Sure. Anything you wanna have in particular?"

"No. I don't care. Quality." He still didn't look remotely pleased, but waved sharply for her to walk.

"... I know this place that serves some really great seafood dishes, then. Great for Konoha anyway," She shrugged, trotting forward to walk at his side, "Or we could just go for takoyaki, or something simpler. Maybe barbeque?"

He just watched her, staring at her intently in silence, lips pressed together in vaguely displeased manner.

"... You're going to make me pick aren't you."

"Why is it that you believe I would know what is quality in... this village you've chosen?" There was a rather dismissive edge to his voice as he spoke.

"You say that like it's trash," She frowned at him, one of her eyes twitching briefly before she sighed and shook her head, "Barbeque. Might as well try a local specialty while you're here."

Without asking she took his hand then, gripping firmly to make sure that he'd have to really try to get her to let go of him as she led the way. He could say what he wanted, but Adela had grown in strength considerably since she was a child.

His loose stance turned rigid as she grabbed him and he only just refrained from ripping himself free of her touch, though a low growl was audible in his chest as he reluctantly fell into her wake.

The fact that he didn't pull away warmed her a bit, stiff as she was, and she flashed back a small smile at him to reflect that. Maybe he really was okay with everything now - her feelings had gotten through, just a little bit.

With that in mind she squeezed his hand a little before getting a table for them at the restaurant, at last letting to of his hand as they were led to a more private booth and were allowed to place their order.

"So... What was that about anyway? Bidding on me like that in the auction?" She asked almost too casually, curious as she started to leave herself more and more open. It almost didn't matter, what he had said to her when they had met during that border patrol of hers. Maybe he was just saying it because... He didn't think she cared about him anymore. Maybe.

Adela, at least then, really wanted to believe that things were getting a little better regardless of reason.

He was glaring when she looked to him, adjusting the glove he was wearing as he settled himself to wait for their meal. "I fail to see why it's not obvious."

"... I fail to see why it's supposed to be obvious," Her face shifted to a more serious, if inquisitive, expression then. Adela leaned forward on the table to look more closely at him, supporting her chin in her hand as she tried to study him.

"You pretty much treated me like I was less than nothing on border patrol, Seph... I..."

It took her a second before she sighed, deciding against telling him that she literally trained herself sick after that, "And then you come out of no where and start bidding ridiculously high amounts of money on me, then leave mid-auction? It doesn't make sense."

"I had no intention of winning." It was a dismissive statement, and he settled back, relaxed. "Is that all you wanted?"

"... Then, what? Were you trying to see who'd counterbid?"

[silverterror]

He tilted his head slightly, then smirked. "Yes."

"Why?" Again Adela seemed puzzled, blinking a few times. Wait, no way, it couldn't... After what he had said last time, it almost seemed unbelievable. Her puzzlement shifted into an expression of shock, plain and open as she asked, "Wait... Were you worried about me? And how I was doing here?"

The look he gave her was sharp, almost predatory, and he tilted his head to the side. "That's one way to look at it, if not the most... correct."

Well that didn't take long. Her face fell a bit at that and she frowned, shoulders slumping while she absently began to pick at the beef that had been served so that she could start cooking it on the grill at their table, "Then what is it, if not that?"

"That is the question." His look turned into a smirk, thought he quality of it definitely didn't change. "I see no reason to tell you."

"... Why not?" She tried not to twitch, but it was difficult to hide her irritation with that answer. Just what in the world was he plotting...?

"You haven't done anything to earn it." He reached out, stealing the meat off the grill.

The conversation was clearly frustrating her then, and she huffed at him as her cheeks tinted before she took some more of the cooked meat for herself, "What do I have to do to earn it then? I wanna know what you were doing, Seph."
