Sephiroth knew people were following him after he left. After all, he'd made quite the spectacle of himself. So he slowed his steps, and wove his way throught he allowed parts of the village for visitors... and waited to see who caught up to him first.

Abel waited until Sephiroth was alone, having seen the other silver haired man in conversations with the other two.

Making no attempts to hide his actions, Abel calmly walked over to Sephiroth, stopping just out of sword range and bowed. "As we are both in neutral territory here, may I request a bit of your time to perhaps clarify past actions?"

He stared at him, eyes dispassionate. His posture said more, still and poised, waiting. "There is little to clarify Nightroad."

"Then perhaps I might wish to speak in the gulf I created when I left," Abel remarked, folding his hands behind his back. "After all, I abandoned you as well as Kiri."

His voice was calm and he was leaving himself open to an attack should Sephiroth wish to draw a blade.

"To what end mm? You left, you didn't return. I think that says quite enough all on its own." He lifted his chin, voice clipped.

"In a way, I did it to save you as much as myself," Abel remarked. "After all, how long would you have lasted trying to protect both of us on missions? And if I had left a note for you, explaining my actions back then, it would have been much more difficult for you to protest your ignorance of my actions."

"A note? I needed no note. Y should have come home when given the opportunity." His voice lowered to a growl, and he glared, then reigned himself in, pulling up a wall of icy cold.

"It wasn't home! Not anymore," Abel protested, holding out his arms as he plead for the other man to understand. "And maybe it hadn't been for a while."

Abel looked at Sephiroth, seriously. "Being on a team with you was the only good thing about Kiri, but it wasn't enough to keep me there."

"Then clearly my importance wasn't much to you, was it?" It was a simple statement, and he didn't thaw, not even in the slightest. "Thus I see no reason for you to attempt to.... appease me or whatever this is."

"You were very important," Abel said with a sigh. "I wish I knew what to say that would let you see my side of things. I know I hurt you, and I hate that. But I couldn't live under Kiri's restrictions any more."

He shrugged a shoulder. "Maybe I'd like my old teammate back."

"For what, mm?" It was a soft murmur, and he looked him over, standing back on his heels. The simple fact he wasn't minimizing distance should have been telling enough.

Abel shrugged a shoulder. "Because I dislike the thought that I hurt you when I left and would like to make amends at least that far." He offered a wry smile. "Selfish I know."

He gave a scoff at that, lifting his chin. "You never even attempted to answer my letter to you. If you received it at all that is. Not impossible you were deflecting your mail I suppose."

"I received it, and I kept it," Abel said, meeting those feline eyes. "I didn't answer because I thought it would put you in danger of being declared a traitor to Kiri."

He twitched, tensing at the words before lowering his head a fraction. It was a mannerism that screamed he was about to escape the conversation... or had, once upon a time. "Is that how it is."

"I respect you, Sephiroth, as a shinobi and a person," Abel said. "And I probably always will."

He tilted his head as he looked at Sephiroth. "I know I have probably destroyed any chance of friendship between us when I ran, but I wouldn't mind getting to know you again as a fellow shinobi."

"At the end of my blade then mm?" He turned in place, even as he stepped away. "A thought to keep in mind then."

Abel inclined his head. "For running and abandoning you, you do deserve a pound of flesh. If you wish to claim it, I'll be returning for the Chunin Exams. If you are here, we could find time then."

He owed Sephiroth that much for leaving and then never contacting him.

"Even I know that would be a diplomatic nightmare. I'd rather not."

"The offer is always there," Abel said. "And I didn't make the offer to create a diplomatic nightmare or trouble with Kiri."

No this was about the two of them, not two shinobi from different villages.

"Another day, and another place." On 'neutral' ground though? No.

Abel inclined his head before bowing at Sephiroth. "Very well. I unfortunately have nothing further to say at this time, but should you wish your time with me, merely send a message and I will show up if duty allows it."

He offered a wry grin. "I will mention that I'll never return to Kiri willingly."

"I had gathered as much from our first meeting." It was a simple, soft statement, and he shook his head sharply. He knew better than to raise his own hopes.

"If I thought it would work, I'd try to convince you to come to Ame," Abel murmured. "But I know your dedication to Kiri."

[silverterror]

"Something of that nature." He pressed his lips together. "You're not stupid enough to return."

[incubi_abel]

He shook his head. "I found a place that welcomes me, all of me, and for that, I will defend Ame and my lord to my death."

A small smile touched his face. "I'm sure you understand how that is."
