[Closed] She's so wasted, acting crazy
Who: Karin and Itachi.
When: June 20th, afternoon.
Where: By the river.
Notes: Curing her blues or something. Honestly, why is Itachi the non-jerk Uchiha?
In terms of birthdays, this was the absolute worst. She’d been so sure that by today she’d be well on her way to completing her first and hopefully last Chunin exams. Instead, she was disqualified a week ago, and had a very slowly healing cut to remind her just how horrifically the whole thing had gone once she and her teammates entered the forest. She’d pretty much torn out of the house as soon as the sun had risen to a respectable height and bought breakfast before eventually settling on the bank of the river.
She hadn’t moved since.
Here she could sulk and toss pebbles and rocks into the water. She didn’t want to see her aunt this morning, or any of her family. She really didn’t want to be anywhere too visible at all in case jerkface was around. She did not have the mental wherewithal to deal with him today.
She tossed another rock at the water and watched as it skipped across the surface. She was hungry but choosing to ignore that in favor of mentally berating herself. Another stone skipped across the surface before loudly sinking to the bottom. Stupid duckbutt totally ruining her calm before she went into the woods for a week. She could have dealt with anyone else, even the little Hyuuga girl next to him, and come out just fine. But no he had to have the innate ability to thoroughly ruin her confidence when she desperately needed it. She was going to…do absolutely nothing until her arm healed, because somehow storming into his home and knocking a door off its hinges without the physical ability to back up her ire didn’t seem like it would work out well for her.

Itachi hadn't noticed until it was a good distance down the river, so he'd walked out into water, which was tricky with a fast current, and set off after the sandal, carrying his other one. Itachi still felt drained from dealing with the exams, so he stayed at a amiable jog down the current as the sandal vanished around the corner.
Itachi slowed as he saw the red-head throwing rocks into the river and watched his sandal bob right by her, merrily picking up speed. Itachi gave the girl an “everything is normal” smile as he got closer.
“Good morning.”

"Morning?" She replies after a moment though she's not sure the man actually heard her what with chasing after the thing he was doing. And she hadn't exactly been very loud oops. Shrugging Karin picked up another stone and tossed it a little in the air, testing it's weight before chucking it out into the river again.
If the man wanted to chat he'd come back. Or he wouldn't since she was obviously not good company right now. Though considering her stone had very good aim and sunk the sandal maybe he would.

"I'm sorry to have disturbed your morning," Itachi told the girl as he came back upstream and stepped onto the bank. He recognized her now as one of the gennin from Uzushio, which might have been an obvious assumption given her red hair.

Itachi watched the girl. He knew she was most likely a participant in the exams, but he doubted anyone with such a glum look would be preparing for the next stage of exams. It was possible, certainly, but unlikely. There was also the injury tipping Itachi towards a failed entrant, thought it was pretty much all speculation.
Itachi sat down on the bank, not too close to the girl, but within conversational distance if she felt inclined. Itachi wasn't at all good at offering consolation, or really advice. Itachi dusted the bits of grass and dirt off his feet and began putting his shoes back on. "Do you know how to skip rocks?"

She almost pouts at him. Why can't people just leave her alone to sulk. Jerk boy gave her a lecture, told her to stay a genin forever. And this one was asking if she knew how to skip rocks. It was such a laughable question, of course she knew. Except now that she's quiet she actually realizes he hadn't been rude or judgmental in the question he'd merely asked, and she'd snapped at him. She sighs. "I'm sorry about, uh, sinking your sandal."

"You don't have to apologize--that was a very good throw for your non-dominant hand. I was glad to provide a target." Itachi said. He should leave now, and leave the girl to her thinking or sulking or whatever it was. The river was soothing, and he did wonder if she's failed or just been hurt. He didn't think he could come right out and ask that, though.
"I hope your injury doesn't interfere too much with your training," Itachi added.
no subject
"It shouldn't." Just six weeks or so in which she would be mostly unable to participate in anything other than laps. She knew returning to her normal training would take time from there but that was to be expected too. "But I appreciate the sentiment."
