Who: Uchiha Sasuke
When: July 14th
Where: The most remote training field he can find
What: Sasuke is between missions and has been kicked out of Hinata's recuperating room as gently as possible. Time to break some bones; it's equal parts penance and practical, he swears.

Things had actually seemed to be going well this time. Hinata had been careful not to show her feelings about which way the talks had gone while in the village, and the trip there had been so uneventful that the return seemed destined for the same.

Except it hadn't, and Hinata had gotten hurt because of it.

Sasuke strapped his shoe back onto his foot with vengeful yanks, glaring down the training log in front of him. He was stubborn -- he knew his own faults -- but he didn't entirely ignore advice received, either. The last time a teammate had been injured under his watch, Obito had told him to get stronger as a shinobi, get better as a med-in.

He would. And today, that just happened to mean breaking bones.

Taking stance, he carefully judged the angle he'd need to strike the log at in order to smash some of the finer bones of his right foot. It would force him to counter training ignrained into muscle memory for a long time, something that was likely to prove useful in itself, but for now: for now there was only the crack of flesh impacting wood in all the wrong ways, and Sasuke's stifled grunt of pain as he let the Sharingan flood his vision, watching his own chakra respond to the green glow of medical ninjutsu he applied to the injury, healing it.

"That's not --" It was probably true, and he'd get an earful from Tsukiko, but none of the staff at the hospital had been training to be a medic while remaining a candidate for front-line combat.

"There's a practical purpose for it," he said, trying to sound reasonable instead of just annoyed that he'd been interrupted. "I don't do this just to mess myself up, you know."

"The fact that you're doing it alone says you probably are, stupid," Adela wasn't yelling then, instead more focused on going towards the hospital and trying to dart around Sasuke so that she could keep going. If Sasuke followed her, good, that meant he'd be there when she told the medi-nin about him.

"Or that I don't want anyone to see what I'm working on," he snapped, blocking her path every time she tried to dodge around him -- this was turning into some weird game of dancing around each other, totally ridiculous --

"Look, I'm fine," he tried, holding his leg up as if she'd be able to tell by looking. "Everything's healed."

At that rate she was going to end up running right into him on accident. She was getting more frustrated, continuing to try and dance around him as she ignored him, "It's still stupid to go injuring yourself on purpose Senpai!"

He was going to have to grab her and stop her physically if she kept trying to run for it -- completely irrationally, in Sasuke's opinion, given that he was fine --

"It's not stupid when it's the most common application of medical ninjutsu I'll use in the field!" He finally growled it in frustration, throwing his hands up. "Who do you think I'll have to heal the most often? Medic-nin don't have the time to train with one person like this!"

Only a half-lie, since medic-nin not having time was a universal constant.

"Then practice at the hospital instead of breaking your own bones! You're still stupid!" That was all she got out before she actually bumped into him, her chakra not being refined enough in that instant for her to hang onto the branch. That was when she fell a good twenty feet, a loud crunch coming from her descent before she cursed and fell to her knees.

FUCK that hurt! Immediately her hand went to her ankle, gripping it with a wince as it had twisted at an unnaturally sharp angle then. Oh god, it felt like she was going to cry too, from the shock of the impact, but no she could hold it in after a couple of deep breaths...

"That would --" But Sasuke never actually got to finish what that would entail, because one moment Adela was yelling at him and the next she was falling, Sasuke flinching into action a moment too late.

He could hear the sickly twist of bone from here, and he dropped to the forest floor next to her -- chakra cushioning the jump to make it much less damaging -- in a blink, Sharingan flickering into his eyes to help assess the damage. She was kneeling, which meant --

"Sit down," he growled, already grabbing gauze out of his medkit. "Take your weight off that ankle now."

"... My weight wasn't on it," She finally managed to breathe out the words as she shifted to sit, her back against a tree as she tried to relax a bit more. It definitely still hurt, but not as much as the initial shock. Damn, now that she wasn't thinking about how much pain she was in... Well, at that moment, she was thoroughly humiliated.

He didn't bother to argue, instead shifting his own weight forward to crouch next to her with a frown. He hadn't seen the impact up-close, but it was easy enough to guess how she'd landed -- nothing that couldn't be fixed, but certainly enough damage to leave some nasty aches afterward.

"I'm going to rotate your ankle," he informed her, remembering how jumpy she'd been when he'd touched her without warning last time. "I need you to rate the pain on a scale of one to ten, with ten being the worst, whenever it changes."

When he started moving it her fingers dug into the ground, arms shaking from the effort to control herself as she gritted her teeth, "... Eight. Getting worse as you go."

Fuck fuck FUCK she wanted to shove him off to get him to stop, it really hurt. She didn't think it was dislocated, but even so...

An eight, and the swelling was already visibly significant in comparison to her uninjured ankle -- Sasuke pressed gently against the bone, feeling out the likelihood of a break with a few surges of chakra.

"It's a bad sprain at the very least," he said after a moment, frowning. "I can heal the ligament damage, but your muscles will still need to recover."

"Good thing I'm on leave until the end of the month anyway," Her shoulders slumped and she sighed, though she inevitably grimaced and stiffened with the effort to not jerk away from him with each press and surge. Seriously, if she had to take sick leave because of this it'd just be beyond humiliating, on top of her shoddy mission record lately...

"On leave?" He looked up at her, surprised out of immediate attention at the news. "I hadn't heard."

A glance back down revealed rapidly purpling bruising, however, plenty to return his focus to the injury. Nothing had felt broken after further examination, which meant that he just needed to search out the tear in the ligament.

Non-visible injuries were always something of a pain. Green healing chakra spread slowly over Adela's ankle, seeking the best point to begin knitting the internal wound back together.

"Well, now you know," It was a quiet murmer as she looked away, inwardly cursing that she had even said it to begin with. At least the healing felt nice, but she'd probably just leave after. Between this and Kushina telling him about how she felt, she just wasn't sure of how to talk to Sasuke then

"What for?" Sasuke scanned the rest of Adela over more critically now that he could let habit take over the healing. Nothing else seemed out of place besides a few bumps and scratches here and there from the fall -- certainly nothing that would put a kunoichi out of commission for a month.

"Did you get injured?" He asked anyway, just in case he'd missed something.

"I requested to take it. That's all."

Really, she didn't want to give anything away then - not after what she had talked to Obito about regarding her leave. Sasuke was one of the ones she couldn't talk to about it, he just wouldn't get it... And things were already awkward enough.

He gave her a long, considering look, and then released his chakra with a sigh. Sighing was happening a lot more than it used to, Sasuke grumbled internally, and gently pushed Adela's foot upward to test out the angle and decide if he'd healed it enough.

"Flex your foot slowly," he advised, and then added while his gaze was still directed at her ankle: "I don't have any right to pry into your business, Adela, so I won't.

"Now tell me how bad the pain is again, same scale of one to ten."

That was... Surprising. She blinked at him, letting it show to her face before she finally let her lips quirk into a smile. At least he wasn't going to push, and it let her relax a bit more. Obediently she started to flex her foot then, suppressing a wince as she rotated her ankle before nodding, "It's about a three now. Maybe two. Way less than before."

He almost missed the shift in her expression, glancing up only to catch the tail end of her smile, but it seemed he'd actually said the right thing. For once, he supplied mentally, and turned his attention back to what he knew he was good at before he could ruin his ruin of luck.

A three or two was a good sign, and he didn't want to introduce much more foreign chakra than this for an injury that would have time to heal on its own, so after another moment of slowly rotating the joint, he nodded.

"That's as much as I can do that will be helpful for now," he informed her. "Do you remember the chakra meditation I showed you a while ago?"

"Yeah, I remember. I'll do that for my ankle a little later, once I've had a chance to rest a bit."

Adela paused then, frowning before she met his eye again, "Oiy, Senpai. Don't keep injuring yourself, okay? Or at least have someone with you if you're going to keep practising to help people recover. You don't want to end up accidentally messing yourself up too bad to end up on leave too, do you?"

"Good," he said, leaning back to give his handiwork one last once-over before starting to stand. Her voice stopped him, though, making him pause and look at her with some surprise.

He didn't want to share the detailed reason behind the exact nature of his training today, but since it seemed like Adela wasn't about to go running for a medic-nin again, he hesitated only a moment more before sitting back down with a suppressed sigh.

"I won't injure myself too badly," he said. "If I had to go to the medic-nin at the hospital with a self-inflicted injury, they'd kill me before they even started to heal me."

"You promise?" Those were the only words she spoke as she looked him over, making to stand as well and holding a slight limp so that her full weight wasn't on her freshly injured ankle. She could get back to the village like this, even if it'd take a while. She'd just have to take it easy. But if Sasuke ended up hurting himself too badly and no one was around to help...

She didn't want to think about that.

He couldn't actually remember the last time someone had made him promise not to hurt himself -- it was taken for granted that he could patch himself up with some level of competence -- but Sasuke was surprised at how much it seemed like genuine concern rather than a lack of faith. It made it harder to be annoyed by the whole fiasco, even if it had interrupted his training and ended up with yet another injury on Adela that was at least somewhat his fault.

"Yeah," he said finally, giving her a short nod to punctuate it. "I promise. Are you going to promise not to tell the med-nin on me?"

"I promise, so long as you keep yours," Adela nodded, pausing before she frowned, "Do a lot of people come through here? I mean, enough that someone'll find you later if you need it," The question was awkward, as if she didn't want to end up offending him on accident. Really, she just wanted to make sure he'd be okay... Even with all the awkward stuff that had happened.

"A lot? Not usually," Sasuke said, though he directed a frown back in the direction of the training field. For a place where he'd trained numerous times without any disruptions whatsoever, this spot had turned out annoying popular today for some reason. "If I really need the help, I'll use the scrolls to find someone."

Preferably someone who wasn't a med-nin and so couldn't injure him any more.
