(Not really a) Vision of home. [Open to Konoha]

Where: KONOHA, AND IT FEELS SO RIGHT

Notes: Rin is home!!!! Also open to whoever wants to come welcome her home.

Just so she's clear: the hokage was getting another party. She demanded it. But it was close to Kakashi's birthday, and she wasn't going to steal his thunder. Later though, she would.

Her house was...dusty, even though it wasn't the first time anyone had disturbed it since she went with Lady Kushina to help. The musty smell would go away once she opened up the place and let fresh air in. She didn't see much point in staying inside once she was finished unpacking what she brought back from Uzu.

While it was true she had gotten to explore the village during her short visits, she wasn't counting those times! She was home for real now, so she was going to do a loop of the village properly too!

And figure out what to eat for dinner once she worked up an appetite. It should be something celebratory and familiar. Maybe she'd pry the important hokage away from his business for it. Perks of a childhood friend? That would fly, right?

Now here was a face he hadn't seen in a long time. He had to stop and look back over his shoulder just to make sure it really was her.

"Nohara-san?"

...At least he hadn't forgotten her name?

Well, had it really been that long? To be fair, she would only sort of remember when she last saw him, because as much as she liked (most of) the cousins she met of Obito...she never really got that attached or close to any of them. No time, between the war, working on her craft and then Uzu.

But that was no reason to be unfriendly! And she recognized his face as...one of those...Uchiha who could be found near Obito! She turned and smiled brightly at him once he spoke, "Oh! Hello! Are you my welcome party?"

She's kidding. A welcome party would be sort of cool though, if unnecessarily formal.

Quite long, he realizes, when it becomes evident she doesn't necessarily recognize him. And if she thought he was one of those Uchiha frequently seen around Obito, then-- they probably never met before?!

He turned as well, laughing. "Haa-- no, not really, but I can be?" Walking back, Shisui catches up to her. "I'm-- Shisui, by the way." Pause. "Uchiha Shisui." Oh look, holding out a hand for a shake, too.

Th...that's...possible. She's sorry, it's just that most Uchiha look alike to her. In a good way! She's used to Uzumaki, anyway, Uchiha are a whole different ballgame to keep track of, and she hasn't actually befriended as many as she did Uzumaki.

Oh...Shisui sounded familiar, though! She'd remember the name eventually, probably.

She took his and after a moment, still smiling bright, and nodded. "I approve! You can be my welcome party then, Shisui-san, but that means you're responsible for giving me the tour now. Just so you know."

Wow Rin, he's not impressed.

He responded with a firm handshake, though, then turned to continue walking in the completely opposite direction from when he'd started. "Sounds good~ But hey, why would you need a tour, mm? Have you forgotten Konoha already~?" He was teasing, obviously. "Did you just get here? I was actually scouting the place for a spot to eat. Have you had anything to eat since you arrived? Or did you want to go see Obito first?"

Well she is...impressed with his mascara.

"It's a welcome back tour! Every returned Konoha nin gets one. It's an ancient rule." Which she made up. Whether she did it recently or long ago, however, she wouldn't say. She hummed and shook her head. "I have an appointment with the Hokage," said in a tone just shy of teasing. There wasn't a point in using his title in a teasing sort of way if he wasn't there to hear it, after all. "And I am hungry...so you can buy me lunch! Celebratory lunch."

When Rin came in he was somewhat relieved he wouldn't have to go hunting for her. Not to say he wouldn't, but the last few days had been a hellish chaos of paperwork and going over old files and new intel.

He was on his feet and around his desk to hug her seconds after she was in the door though. "You're officially back! You're not gonna find a way to run off again soon are you?"

She didn't make it a habit to play hard to get, in fairness. It was her other two teammates that seemed to experience difficulties in arriving on time for meet ups. (Although...well, at least they did show up, so that comparison only stretched so far anyway...)

"Ooh!" Sudden hugging! It took her a moment or two to properly gather herself and return the hug (or as well as she could from the position of the hugged. Why was it Obito and Kakashi got to shoot up into giants and she still stayed tiny?)

"I don't know, is the Hokage planning to send me off somewhere else already?"

"Hey now! I'm not the Hokage who sent you away in the first place remember? Sensei decided to pull that before he handed over the office." He gave her a grand pout in emphasis of what he thought of this, easing back a bit. "You've missed all kinds of things."

She laughed, more at his pout than his words themselves. It was the Fourth's decision, after all. But then, she'd also wanted the opportunity to help with Uzu's rebuilding and with the Lady Kushina's dream. "But you're gonna tell me all about them now, right? Because if you try to keep me in the dark about it after saying that, I'll have to go ask Kakashi and your students, and then they'll spill all your secrets~!"

He paused a moment, then laughed. "Yeah right. Good luck getting Kakashi to spill. Just... too many things honestly. It would be hard to know where to start."

She gasped. "So you are just teasing me with information!" She reached up and poked his chest, putting on an offended pout. "Hokageship has made you hard and bitter! Being mean to a teammate like that..."

He didn't even try to hide his brilliant smile, reaching up and taking her hand in both of his. "Yes, I know. You'll find out eventually."

She scoffed lightly, but it was difficult to frown in the face of her old friend's unchained grin. That was unfair to use and uncalled for. Her own lips quirked up into a small, amused smile after only a moment or two of resisting.

"Well then, you have to catch me up on something or I'm gonna throw another Hokage inaugural bash because I couldn't do it properly last time, and then everyone in the village is going to be confused!"

"Something... okay! Sasuke made Jounin. Ah... Yep I can't really go into most of the others so let's go with that!" He gave a firm nod, rubbing at the back of his head. Yeesh, what was his life lately?

"Oh! Really, before Hinata?" Unless Hinata being promoted was one of the secret things he couldn't get into...

She squinted and then poked at him playfully. "You're not slipping into favoritism now, are you~?"

"Before Hinata. She has other things to worry about." He eyed her right back, pouting. "If it was favoritism you're looking at the wrong student here."

"Am I?" She hummed. "Is it Naruto or Hinata?"

"I'm just saying it makes no sense to accuse me of using favoritism on Sasuke that's all!" He lifted his hands, warding off the question. "They're all favorites depending on circumstances."

"That's why it makes perfect sense! You're sneaking in favoritism where no one will expect!" She positively radiated amusement from where she stood. "Ahh...so you're the sort of sensei who tells your students you like the other one whenever you need them motivated!"

"No! I'm the kind of sensei who tells them what they're good at. And what they need to knock off or I'll smack out of them. Even Hinata needed some shaking so, there's that."

She squinted at him, radiating skepticism. "I don't think you understand the definition of 'favorite', Obito. I'm not sure if I'll be able to trust you with any other favorites I ask you about now."

"I said it depended on circumstances!" He pouted at her, giving a little huff. "We'd gotten off of that favorite bit."

"Hmm, did we?" The lilt in her voice signaled perhaps that she'd return to it whenever she found an opportune moment to strike, regardless.

"Okay! Have you come up with any special new jutsus since we last met?"

"Um. Maybe?" He paused, honestly thinking about the question. "I'm not sure what you know of me last doing actually. I mean, I've been working on some stuff but I'm not sure what I last had a chance to show you."

She frowned in thought. "Well...I don't know. We didn't really have time to trade techniques or train together very much while I was helping in Uzushio. So...I haven't seen anything since you became Hokage."

"....Rin that's a whole lot of stuff I don't even know how to list." He blinked, staring at her, then gave her a lopsided smile. "Not sure where to even start."

"Pick somewhere random! I can get dice." She beamed at him expectantly. It didn't really matter to her what order it was told, or...even what it was he told her, as long as she got to hear things about him she hadn't yet.

"Well... Um." He opened his mouth, closed it, and then sighed. "I don't know. There's a lot." He mentally groped for a moment. "Was I working on water techniques yet when you left?"

"Hmm..." She hesitated a moment, thoughtful. "You were discussing it, but you hadn't started practicing anything yet." She laced her fingers together expectantly. "Have you developed something cool?"

He turned pink around the edges. "I don't know about cool, but useful at least."

"Show me~!" She clapped her hands, expression eager. "It's not fair to build it up and not show me."

He huffed a breath and looked around. "I refuse to drown my office alright. I'd have to redo everything it damaged and ugh. No."

And so she reached out to grab his wrist. "Alright, then! Come show me it outside!"

He chuffed a soft laugh, then got up to slide around his desk. "Okay okay. Off we go."

She gave a little cheer of triumph, and then marched out of the room. Whether she led the Hokage out of the building or dragged him by the wrist relied entirely on how well he could keep up with her. "This is exciting~!"

"Exciting? Okay so I'm awesome but not sure how it's inherently exciting." He kept up, knowing better than to let her settle into dragging him.

"I haven't seen your water jutsu yet! It's new and unknown and you won't tell me anything about it~" She stuck her tongue out at him over her shoulder. Because that was the mature thing to do.

"It was kind of hard to get the feel for but it's not all that impressive. It's nothing on my Earth or Fire stuff." He shook his head, huffing a laugh at her.

"But it's useful! Right? And it must be big, if you can't do it in the office!" She grinned up at him. "See, you keep dropping me all these teasing hints!"

"Of course it's useful, and it's not that it's big, it's that it's wet. Water plus paperwork equals depressed Hokage okay?" He pouted at her, waving her along as he set off down the hall.
