sunshineverse | Even a Kage spends time in the village

Where: Konohagakure
When: January 4th, in the afternoon.
Notes: Open to anyone.

He was horrifically bored. No, beyond bored, he was being lulled into a sense of being droned to death, and he honestly couldn't claim he was unused to it. He was used to it. He was so painfully used to it that he could just cry over it. Admittedly, he'd gotten over that crying constantly thing a good decade ago, but the urge still cropped up from time to time, and this was shaping up to being one of those days.

At least, it was until someone called the delegate's attention away from him long enough that one of his people could get in and give him a message.

It was blank, but they didn't have to know that, and it was something that honestly didn't need his personal attention in any case. All he seemed to be there for was to nod politely and have his assistant take notes to give someone else anyway. Thus, he sprung at the chance to close the matter for the day, it having run over nearly two hours from the projected halt point as it was.

His shinobi had probably realized he wasn't all that far off a compulsion to do something regrettable. Probably in a way that was amusing at the time but would just make him cringe in retrospect too. Thus, he seized on the chance to bolt, politely making his excuses before taking off into the village, taking a deep breath of the cool air as he tried to figure out how he wanted to spend his current freedom.

Sparring? Checking on shinobi in other parts of the village? Hassling his students? Lunch?

...Lunch. He was starved.

Goal decided, he started across the village to the nice fish place near his home, waving and greeting people on his way.

She didn't mean for him to take that many! Adela just blinked at it before frowning at him, but she couldn't say anything then - not when she'd finally just let him do what he wanted. Granted, it would be faster now that the load was lighter, but at the same time...

"... Seemed like you really wanted to get away from the office," She commented lightly, keeping her eyes focused on what was ahead of her as she tried to get her mind off of how irritated she was getting with the man beside her.

"Have you had any missions that had you sitting guard over a politician?" He noticed the frown, but cheerfully ignored it.

"Not yet, but it's probably only a matter of time..."

"Oh, very much. It's an experience you need to have before you truly appreciate just how horrible meetings can be." He huffed a breath and shook his head.

"Unless you plan on making me Rokudaime it shouldn't be something I'll do very often," The comment isn't without at least a little snark, and the grin that follows is the tip-off that said snark was fully intentional.

He narrowed his eyes a touch and looked sideways at her, a small smirk on his lips. "Much as that's tempting, I think I might have other candidates, so you have nothing to worry about."

On that front anyway. Clearly she needed a change in her mission assignments for a while though.

She missed the narrowing of his eyes or she might have caught on to the fact that something was up. Still, Adela wasn't quite at that level of watchfulness so she was still blissfully unaware that Obito was planning anything.

Still, she couldn't help sighing with a bit of relief, "Good. I wanna protect the village with everything I've got but being the Hokage looks like a giant pain in the ass..."

"Oh, it is. But it's worth it." He let the smirk melt into a smile. "It means I get to watch over all of you."

She didn't know why, but she felt her heart skipping a beat as she went red. That was right, the Hokage was the protector of the entire village, and when he said it like that... It suddenly seemed like so much more than just a political position.

"... Yeah," It took her a couple of seconds to clear her throat before she finally entered the door to the shop, dropping off the samples near the entrance to the forge before she stretched her arms. Why did Obito sound cool then? That was kind of weird.

He noticed, but was smart enough not to comment on it, instead setting down his own pile too. "So, come to lunch?"

"Guess I don't have a choice," It was a huff, but she didn't protest further than that as she made her way out of the shop and waited for Obito to lead the way.

Ahh, so he managed that moment did he? Good. Smiling at her, he turned and headed back out. "I guess not, but hey, it's free food right?"

"I can pay for myself."

"Aww, well, if you insist I won't stop you, but I was dragging you away from your practice." He knew she probably had better things to do than cater to him after all but he wasn't taking back the offer.

"... I was taking a break anyway," She flushed, glancing away from him uncomfortably. He wasn't going to leave her alone, she already knew that for fact. Obito was just like that, even when he wasn't the Hokage. He'd just persist and try to be nice to goddamn everyone...

He gave her a bright smile of understanding. "Then I'm glad you decided to share it with me! So, any preferences? I was headed to that place with the nice Udon."

"... Udon sounds okay. Let's go."

He just gave a knowing hum and headed off. After all, she'd agreed, and he saw no point in tempting her to change her mind.
