[Open] Finally an afternoon to himself!

Where: Konoha's Ichiraku
When: From about noon to a leisurely 3pm before he wandered off to read a book on a bench nearby.
Notes: For the first time in what felt like forever, he was free. Freeeeee.

He had started to think he'd never escape the vortex of paperwork that had become his life in the last few months. If it wasn't his class, it was the mission desk, if it wasn't the mission desk, it was running files from intel to the Hokage tower. If it wasn't that then by all that was sane, he was asleep and may mercy be on the soul of anyone who thought it a good idea to wake him for anything less than an emergency.

But now, now, he had a day free and clear of all paperwork. Not a bit of grading was to be had, he was on an official weekend for anything to do with the tower in any capacity, and that left him able to fully, truly, relish the sensation of eating well made noodles as he savored them.

It was a perfect, brilliantly sunny afternoon, and the only thing that could improve it was some good company stopping by to say hello.

He flashed her a bright smile and then nodded. "I'll be sure to do that then. I haven't forgotten him after all."

"Hey, that's good. I just might warn him so he doesn't get mad at me.~" She couldn't leave her food alone any longer. Mika started slurping away, her face was gonna turn red from how spicy that broth was.

He chuckled softly and waved down Ayame for a cup of water, which he slid over to Mika. "If you like, of course. If you don't it could be a surprise."

The water was accepted and Mika gave Ayame a wink before downing the liquid. Almost too spicy! "I might not say anything just to see him get flustered." Whoops, she shouldn't say anything else, Makishi would be so mad.

He smiled knowingly and tilted hs head in a nod. "That is a perfectly legitimate reason not to mention it. You mean no harm after all."

"Mhm." She looked at him for a moment before asking him something a little personal. "Do you have any siblings?"

He quieted for a moment, then shook his head. "Not as such, no. But I have many lovely students so that isn't a problem really."

"Ah. That's nice though, kind of like having lots of little brothers and sisters..." Though Mika would never want more herself, her own brothers were enough of a handful.

"Ah... in a manner of speaking. I'm their teacher, they're my students." He had no idea how to explain to someone without that tie. "I imagine it's not entirely different.

"Well, you're responsible for them when they're in your classroom. It's kind of like they're family. I'm sure that you have a close bond with many of them." At least that how Mika imagined it was like. She remembered having to help with her younger brothers as children.

He nodded and gave her a wry smile. "To a point, I do. I care very much for them."

"Ne, guess it wouldn't be proper to be too close. Being a teacher...sounds like a lot of work." Mika liked kids but couldn't see herself having to teach them, doubtful that many would be interested in the things she liked anyways.

"It is, a lot more than most people really want to admit. But I enjoy it, and that's enough for me." He shook his head on a smile.

"Good. We can't afford losing one of our best teachers ne?" Students seemed to like Iruka well enough, from what Mika recalled during her younger brothers' times there. "So how's your current crop of kids?"

"Rowdy." He smiled, shaking his head. "I'd rather not go into more detail than that at the moment, I'm worried I'll get longwinded."

"I see. So then what do you do outside of the academy?" Maybe she could forward this information to Makishi, only he'd get upset about her meddling sister ways.~

"I do paperwork." He laughed softly and shook his head. "I'm not glamorous at all, sorry to say."

"Boy, exciting." Maybe Makishi could set his sights on someone his own age. "So you never have fun? Or go out after work?" She teased him a bit before remembering that ramen was sitting in front of her. Still spicy as ever.

He gave a soft chuckle, taking a last drink of his glass to empty it. He really was just taking up seat space at the moment. "Of course I do, but that's not exactly good for my reputation, now is it?" He smiled at her sliding off the stool. "It was nice seeing you Mika-san."

"Your studious, strict teacher one?" Mika flashed a cheeky grin at him, she'd have to try seeing him again. For her baby brother's sake of course. "Likewise, if you see Makishi before I do make sure to say hi." There we go, the kid would be soooo embarrassed!

"I will, don't worry." He laughed softly, then headed off away from the stall.
