we got to get right back to where we started from

Where: Hokage Tower, Obito's office.

Gai had been working on his resolutions, first in anticipation of what to write to his father on the lantern, and now in preparation of the New Year. Usually, most of Gai's resolutions were focused solely on himself, and nearly all of them were things he had control over the outcome, but sometimes...sometimes they were things he required another person for.

☐ Be a better boyfriend.

To be honest, he wasn't sure how to be that, but he was definitely going to try. His resolution list in his notebook at home included self-suggestions on how to improve:

• invest in more time with them
• ~~behave~~ do not intrude on matters that do not concern you (they do not all concern you)
• be more affectionate
• say 'I love you' more often
• hold their hands
• strive to learn something new about them each time you see them
• more challenges
• be nicer to ~~Yamato~~ their friends
• take them out on dates/excusions/lunches
• renew kissing practice?

And it was that last one that had Gai here now, because while the ball was in his court for most of the others, kissing practice was something Obito had to want again too. They hadn't exactly done much of that since becoming boyfriends and he felt a little selfish wanting that back so badly. After all, kissing was not all he saw in Obito and he did not want his friend to think that was all he was here for, but...

He missed it. Kissing Obito had been like challenging Kakashi: a perfect excuse for being together. And kissing Obito had been really, really wonderful, too. He made Gai's heart flutter with excitement, took his breath away--

Surely Obito, who liked kissing people and flirting with people and all of that, would want kissing practice back, right? That was what he hoped, at least.

Gai knocked on the door to Obito's office and then peeked in. "Hokage-sama! When you are not busy, may I speak to you about something personal?"

"Nah, see, I reserve that for special occasions. And you, well, I hope you don't let just anyone undress you." He got the zipper all the way down and worked on peeling the material away from hs skin.

He grinned, feeling his skin flush with excitement as Obito's hands exposed it to the cool bedroom air.

"I can assure you that I do not! In fact, with these sorts of intentions, you are the first such special occasion!" Everything else had either been childhood or medical. Maybe once or twice he had come back from a mission too tired to undress and someone had helped, but that was rare. It wasn't really Ebisu or Genma's style, after all. Obito was the first to undress him this way, and one of very, very few Gai had ever imagined or wanted to have do so.

"Ah, then I really should make sure to show my appreciation." He pulled the cloth away, over his shoulders, pulling back to tug it down his arms. "There's definitely plenty to appreciate."

"Ah, thank you!" As if his blush wasn't already deep enough, now Obito was appreciating Gai's body, specifically (at least from Gai's point of view) the results of his training. "I work hard at it!" He released Obito to let him pull down the sleeves. "But the compliment goes likewise. There is plenty of you to appreciate as well, and I intend to finally properly do so!"

"I know you work hard at it." He started to peel the spandex down his chest, gaze spinning crimson in a blatant choice to memorize it in a non-platonic setting. "You work hard at everything, and I really like that."

He was transfixed by the Sharingan, but still he puffed up a little, the compliment boosting his pride tenfold, the way Obito was watching him doing so much more. Gai laughed. "I am embarrassed to say how much of a turn-on it is hearing that from you! But I am glad you like it. I like when I can work hard for you, especially."

"I've always watched you to some extent, so that shouldn't surprise you." He ran his hands up over his chest once the spandex was out of the way, tracing muscle. He'd wanted to do that... basically forever.

He flashed a grin up at him before trailing them back down to tug it down from waist level.

"Noticing your gaze is different," he cleared his throat, body heating up under that touch. Gai wasn't used to this kind of contact, wasn't prepared for how good Obito's hands would feel or the electronic excitement setting his skin on fire. "--than,uh, understanding its intent." He could hear an edge of roughness in his own voice and tried to swallow it away.

Gai gasped and resisted the instinct to put his hands over himself in modesty as Obito tugged on his pants.

He made sure to hook all the cloth, then wiggled back on his knees, leaning over the edge of the bed to push the material down past his knees, lingering to get the warmers off and checked that Gai could just step out of the cloth.

Then he pushed up only enough to seriously eye the erection in front of his face, shamelessly seeing that Gai had going on as his hands ran back up the outsides of his thighs to rest on his hips.

Despite it being winter and being completely undressed, he felt warm and his pulse was racing as he put a hand on Obito's shoulder and stepped out of his suit. As it was, he was pretty sure his face would have been a deep red had the blood not all been running to another part of his body as he looked down to find Obito's face so close, he was almost certain he could feel breath against his skin. This kind of attention was new and intoxicating and he wriggled a little in the hold.

He couldn't miss the squirm, and his gaze wandered upward with a slow grin. "Not making you nervous am I?"

"O-of course not!" The lie showed all over his face and he shifted in place again. "Ha! Me, nervous."

"I am." He leaned back up on his knees, running his palms up his chest. "Well, how about you figure out how to fix that?"

"...You are?" He felt a little better about that, and shivered under the touch. "I will do my best to fix that, then!" Gai slid his arms around Obito's sides, letting them wander down to his waist, quelling some of the nervousness with action. Feeling bolder, his hands slid lower and he gathered Obito close for a kiss, giving his rear a playful squeeze just as he leaned in to kiss him.

The sensation of hands was nothing compared to the furnace that was Gai's skin, and he gasped as he pressed up into the kiss, one hand sliding up into his hair as the other wrapped around his chest and he started to lean back, seeing if Gai would move him, or follow him.

Reading Obito's cues, Gai followed him, easing down with him onto the mattress. The change in position gave a new perspective to the way their bodies fit together and Gai shifted, lowering himself against Obito, letting them settle more completely head to toe. It was exhilarating, and the smallest bit of movement was more than anything he had experienced before. He felt breathless.

There was a bit of a hitch in that process when he had to squirm his lower legs out from under him, then he wiggled his toes against Gai's calf with a cheeky, if slightly heated, grin as he broke off the kiss. "See? All better."

He grinned, pushing up from Obito to get a better view of his face. "I see!" His gaze wandered lower down Obito's chest and stomach appreciatively, hand slowly following. "I see. You are comfortable? I am not too heavy?"

"Nah, I'm not delicate enough that you can squish me." He laughed, shaking his head, though he arched a little into his hand, the movement barely notable. "Have to say you trying sounds appealing though."

"Being squished sounds appealing?" He raised a brow, clearly not following Obito's train of thought; then, thinking he might be catching on, Gai slowly grinned. "If you think it would please you, I could certainly try it!"

He eased down hips first into Obito, barely suppressing a groan as their weight sank into the mattress and bodies rubbed against each other slowly. As his chest pushed down more, hips hips raised off, just barely. His voice was low and breathy against Obito's ear. "How is that?"

He shivered hard, arching his back a little and then hooking a leg over one of his hips. "Better, much, much better." He laughed, breathless and a little husky. "So, how are you fairing up there? I've been keeping you waiting for hours."

Even that shiver against him was nearly mind-blowing. "I am patient and you are worth waiting for," he assured him after a few deep breaths. He pushed his hips down again in a slow grinding motion before making himself lift up again with a groan. "But ...it would be a lie to say I was not getting a little impatient."

He laughed again, then arched up, tightening his leg and chasing his hips. "What exactly are you impatient for me to do Gai, maybe I can help, mm?"

His fingers tightened on Obito's hip and against the sheets as another groan escaped his lips. The teasing was only making him impatience worse; he loved it. "I-i am certain you could help. I just do not know what I am the most impatient for, other than you."

He hummed lowly, squirming in his hold. "I'm getting this strange idea that you're not as enamored with a fully body grind as I am at the moment. Too close?"
