The Year End Party | Dec 31st | [Open to Konoha]

Note: Guests are expected to bring a small gift and a refreshment or dish. Food is provided by the host.~


No one can say that Mika was a bad host. She'd gone to great lengths for this party having cooked a ridiculous amount of pastries and ordering several bottles of sake to serve hot on this chilly night. The grill was on high and the meats were all carefully arranged on a table separate from the other foods. Small lanterns were strung up around the tables for ambiance. As the final touches were completed people slowly trickled up to the party. They'd notice the table of sweets first thanks to one of Mika's greatest accomplishments in baking.

A five tiered cake in alternating flavors of vanilla and chocolate! Each layer had a complimentary fruit garnishing it atop a rich ganache frosting. Probably the most decadent cake many would eat that year.

Time for the gift exchange! Mika had gotten a few extras in case others forgot. She didn't want anyone to feel left out. The pile was modest and as each guest came up to pick the pile dwindled. Only a few boxes stood on the table and Mika made sure to go last as the host. Some of the gifts were junk, others were surprisingly nice. She hadn't made an explicit price limit and decided that next year she would have to impose one.

Naturally, as host, Mika looked to see what everyone got. "So did you like your gift? Ah, I thought this would be something fun but maybe next year I'll make sure that there's a price limit...I didn't expect such nice gifts!"

"Wait really? I didn't think there'd be an issue like that. They're all anonymous, aren't they?" He was now looking at the tag on his gift curiously, making sure it really didn't have names. Or if he'd imagined that.

"Oh, just that-- some of them look rather expensive!" Mika held out the gift she had picked out, a rather lovely piece of jewelry that must have been a lot, or it'd been handmade. She certainly appreciated it regardless. "I don't want anyone to feel like they've been given the short end of the stick..."

"If anyone who came gave an inexpensive gift, it's probably because it's something they personally liked, right? I wouldn't worry about it at all."

"Mm, that's a good point." She was probably worrying too much. Mika hadn't expected anyone to bring anything spectacular so really it was more a nice surprise and a show of generosity. "Have you tried the cake? I'm trying to have it gone by tonight.." Seriously, too much cake was made.

"Not yet. I've been trying the non-sweets before trying to make my way over to the baked goods." He gave a little laugh. "My sweet tooth won't let me out once I get there."

"Oh, of course! Please have whatever you like then." Mika would still be buzzing around anyways so if he really needed anything she'd be nearby.~ "I really doubt we'll have a food shortage tonight. Heh." She really was quite pleased with herself.

"I'd imagine not, you had lots of prep time. Just remember to have fun yourself." He nodded to the crowd. "And eat too."

"Oh, you don't have to worry about that. I'm more concerned that I'll be stuck with leftovers." Better too much than too little right? "You'll have to invite the whole clan over so I don't need a hundred containers.~"

He shook his head and looked around. "I'll go make sure people eat up, sound good to you?"

"Oh yes, please do!" Please, please do!! She could only stand so many left overs. "Ah, I'll be around-- enjoy yourself!" The busybody was off to make other light conversation and cram more food into people.
