The Year End Party | Dec 31st | [Open to Konoha]

Who: Mika and her guests [anyone that shows up tbh]
Where: Rooftop of Mika's apartment complex
Note: Guests are expected to bring a small gift and a refreshment or dish. Food is provided by the host.~

No one can say that Mika was a bad host. She'd gone to great lengths for this party having cooked a ridiculous amount of pastries and ordering several bottles of sake to serve hot on this chilly night. The grill was on high and the meats were all carefully arranged on a table separate from the other foods. Small lanterns were strung up around the tables for ambiance. As the final touches were completed people slowly trickled up to the party. They'd notice the table of sweets first thanks to one of Mika's greatest accomplishments in baking.

A five tiered cake in alternating flavors of vanilla and chocolate! Each layer had a complimentary fruit garnishing it atop a rich ganache frosting. Probably the most decadent cake many would eat that year.

Gauging from the repetition, Kakashi thought his question a foolish one to have even asked, and nodded briefly before making a move for the table. Obito's hand on his wasn't a bother as much as it was merely a reminder that Kakashi didn't have to cut off contact, so instead he kind of swept Obito along with him as he loomed over the table, scanning for his first victim as his stomach gave a growl of approval.

He grinned at him as Kakashi took his cue, more than happy to be swept. That was pretty much what he'd been aiming for, and he reached to nab a cookie off the table while he perused his other options.

Ohhh, they had fish, score! He followed the cookie by collecting a plate of various fish bits and bobs.

Kakashi slipped down his mask to pick at a serving of dried fish, hiding his chewing behind his hand as he glanced back at Obito.

"Have you eaten today?" he asked, giving Obito's choices of snacks a critical glance, acting as though he himself had any right to be scolding the shorter man.

"I had lunch! So this isn't exactly dinner, but as you can see it's not all sweet things, right?"

"Hmm..." Kakashi muttered, strings of his old habits of worry threading through his exterior, even as he apparently focused on picking at and chewing on bits of fish. "I guess you have a point.. Just don't tell Rin that. You'll get it worse from her."

"Eh? Oh come on! What should I eat if not this stuff?" He tilted his chin at the table. "Practically everything here is sweets or snacks!" He might have a tiny bit of a pout there.

Kakashi circled a shoulder, a serious look on his face, but the corner of his mouth twitching; a clear sign that he was teasing his friend. "You know she'll find some reason to fuss over you."

"I know. She's always done that though." He paused a beat, letting out a little sigh. "It was kinda obvious while she was away." Still, the moment passed as quickly as it came and he grinned at Kakashi. "You stepped up nicely though so I didn't feel deprived."

Kakashi gave him the same look back, an eyebrow raised in question. "I wasn't fussing, I was keeping an eye on you." No, Kakashi, you were definitely fussing.

He made a rather non-commital hum and reached up to kiss his cheek through his mask before turning his attention to the food. "Sure thing Kakashi."

He was content enough to leave his defence there - after all, he wasn't fooling anyone, and instead just reeled Obito in close with the arm he had around him, keeping him near as they picked at their food together.

He didn't even try to hide his goofy smile at the gesture, peeking up and sideways at him as he worked through his snacks. "Want to go sit somewhere with our bounty?"

"Mm, sure," Kakashi said through full cheeks of food, looking around for a seating area that wasn't taken. "Lead the way~"

He picked up a few more snacks, then shifted to pull him lightly along to where he'd spotted a nice clear spot not long before. "Can do~! Pretty sure there's a settee back this way."

Kakashi realised he actually hadn't mingled all that much despite his previous intention, so when Obito pulled him he went obediently but spent most of his time idly looking around at the other party patrons, his cheeks still full as he munched through the small pile on his plate.

Obito knew that he'd be approached if he didn't approach others so he wasn't all that terribly interested in worrying about mingling himself... but he might yet encourage Kakashi to get to it after they'd been sitting a while. He kind of was enjoying the proximity at the moment though and saw no need to hurry, finding his prize and settling himself on the wide chair. They'd both fit easily.

They'd be sitting on the same chair?.. Kakashi raised an eyebrow in surprise, but then figured why not and shifted to squish in comfortably beside Obito.

Well, as comfortable as he could be with hips like his.

It was a nice wide chair, so it wasn't cramped and Obito wiggled around until he and Kakashi were settled in a manner that meant they could eat and use their hands without being awkward. "I think this is one of the only pieces of permanent furniture out here."

He waved up at the overhang shielding it.

"I can't understand furniture on a roof," Kakashi muttered, playing at his usual trick of putting food into his mouth so quickly it barely looked like his mask had moved. There were people around, after all, and some of them were almost staring at him as he ate. "I much prefer to be a little closer to the ground when I relax."

"And some people seriously enjoy cloud gazing. You can't tell me you never noticed that anywhere with Nara is more likely to have roof furniture? Probably so they don't have to haul blankets around or whatnot." Obito shifted a little, making it so that he could more effectively direct stares at people who were attempting to stare at Kakashi so they'd stop it.

His reasoning had been a little on the false side even though he'd never exactly sought out a roof to recline on-- he was much more likely to be found lounging on various ledges on buildings, or in trees, or other precarious surfaces. Being closer to the ground was, for him, easier for dodging and avoidance purposes rather than anything else. Besides, he was always too distracted by his book to pay attention to the sky.

"Mm, awful when it rains..." he mused quietly. He glanced up to catch Obito mid-glare, and chuckled at the sight. "..Thank you."

"When it rains, that's what the overhang is for." He grinned at him, though it was a little sheepish. "Nothing to thank me for."

He lifted an arm between them, dropping it idly on Obito's shoulder as he gave him a side-on look. "Of course not."

He felt a hint of a flush come to his face. "Well, alright then."
