[Closed] A day in Ame

Notes: Nagato takes a moment to just spend time with his son Juugo.

It was oddly quiet, with Konan out in the country checking up on preparations being made. It left him a bit restless, and with the rainfall so steadily heavy it wasn't as though he needed to handle anything there. Everything was on schedule in setting up the country's defenses, and really that meant he had little to do, for the moment.

It had him seeking out his foundling, deciding to see how he was doing, given all the visitors that the village had had... and the fact another one was due any time in the next week or so. Better to warn the boy about that while he was talking to him.

The smile that earned him was proud. "I'm sure you will. You're very polite and courteous when you try to be."

If a little innocent, but that was to be expected.

The praise felt good. Juugo like it when he made Nagato proud, and resolved to make sure to treat this visitor as well as he could.

"Good. I can't wait until she gets here."

"Neither can I. I've been hoping it was her each time, and it pleases me greatly that it actually is this time." The look made him happy in turn, and he offered to pour when tea arrived.

Juugo accepted the tea, smiling. “I’m glad she’s finally come this time then.”

If Nagato was so happy, he definitely had to meet this one, he decided. Maybe he could check in on her and make sure she was comfortable a few times, just in case.

He gave him a bright smile, pleased with his understanding. "Have you learned anything new recently? I know I've been a bit busy to give you anything personally of late."

"I've been watching the osprey. I think I'll be able to make my flying smoother, with some practice."

Juugo didn't feel the need to elaborate. Nagato knew he'd been working on transforming himself so that he could fly with his friends. It was clumsy still, but he was learning from them ways of making it better.

He considered that, then nodded slowly. "Ask Konan to give you tips as well. Her paper wings are rather efficient from what I've seen."

Juugo thought about that, and yes, her paper wings worked a lot like his did, so asking her would help.

"I'll do that. Maybe she can show me a little about how she does it."

"She doesn't get to show off her art enough, so you would make her rather happy to inquire." He smiled, looking into his cup of tea before sipping it once he picked it up.

"Then I definitely will."

Juugo liked making Konan happy. It was almost as good as making Nagato happy, and having a plan to improve his flying was always good. He liked being able to go where his friends went.

He laughed softly at the smile that earned him, and inclined his head. He didn't laugh often, but when he did it was never forced. "Good."

The laugh was wonderful to hear, because Juugo knew how rare such things were. Juugo basked in it, smile sweet and wide. This was wonderful.
