 Who: Iruka and Itachi
Where: Their shared home

What: Busy schedules loosen up to allow the pair a short time together. 

It was still a little surreal, for this to be his home. Sure, he'd spent plenty of time in here, enough to feel at ease, but something about this being his permanent abode (lest the pair opt to move) hadn't quite completely settled just yet. It was a good feeling, though. They'd both predictably been busy, but now Itachi had some rare time off, landing face first into the sheets, opting for a short nap.

There's a smile there. With Iruka, he's glad to be caught. It's quite nice he can so easily see through it, because to many others, his ability to lie was almost without flaw. Doesn't help around most everyone else, it's a trained instinct. What a horrible liar he was.

"Guilty as charged."

He hummed and took the food off the stove, moving to get a few things to put with it. "Of course you are. I know my Tachi-chan."

Oh, he shouldn't feel that warm about that nickname...but it happens anyways. He lets himself stew in the feeling while he prepares a tray for the tea, soon setting it in the middle of the table.

The reaction to the nickname made him smile. He remembered the first time he'd used it on the Uchiha, after all, and the then-boy hadn't been anywhere near so pleased as the man he was now. Now, well, he only ever used it in private now.

"Dinner should be ready in just a moment, go sit."

[uchihasavior]

"Ah, I will, I will." it's a soft murmur, and soon enough he's sat himself down in the chair, waiting patiently. Just the two of them.

He gathered everything up without any trouble, juggling the dishes as he brought them over to the table, setting them down with quick efficiency and then dropping into the chair by him to reach for the spoon to the rice. "All done."

"Ah, thank you." Time to eat. His stomach was rumbling after that long work day and that well deserved nap.

It was good he could self justify sleeping now, and not feel guilty about it, like he was wasting time he could be doing something else.

He serves himself well, knowing he'll likely end up with a second helping.

"Of course. I know you can't cook." He flashed him a small grin. "Just be glad I wasn't feeling spicy."

"I wouldn't be opposed to being taught." This way, he didn't have to entirely depend on Iruka being present to be fed, considering their busy schedules.

[senseiofthesea]

"I know, but we don't tend to have the time." He shook his head, knowing it was more Itachi not being able to be around than his own schedule, not that his was inconsiderable. "I'll talk you through some dishes next time, sound like a plan?"

"Mm. I like that." His smile is further agreement as he continues eating, though he stops occasionally to give him fond glances.

He smiled and settled back, enjoying the quiet as they ate, though he was aware of the way Itachi kept peeking at him. It was cute, but he wouldn't poke at him about it.

He takes his time, neither rushing nor drawing it out too long, and stands to put his dishes away when through, his hum serving as thanks for the meal.

He nodded, watching him in the comfortable silence. He always liked to watch Itachi. He'd seen his grace develop over the years and it was... cute.

Not that he'd say as much. Most days.

How long before it left him, though. The shinobi work was sure to catch up, eventually ridding him of his grip, and steadiness, and possibly many more things.

But he doesn't mind being watched, not by Iruka, at least.

"I'll have to get new books soon." he mentions, as it seems Iruka's not finished with his own meal yet.

[senseiofthesea]

"I'll be sure to pick some up then." He flashed him an amused look, then shook his head, finally turning his attention properly back to his food. "Have you really gone through all of mine already?"

"I did read quite a bit when I was sick." And take some on missions when he had to pass time and could open a book and pay attention to it. His reading material might have to change, though.

"And I brought you books from your Mother's during that as well." His tone was a touch dry.

[uchihasavior]

Ah, was he in trouble...? "You did." Comes the response, perhaps a bit careful.

[senseiofthesea]

"We can go to the bookstore together Itachi." It was a murmur, amused as he caught the look on his face. He looked so much like a guilty student in that moment it was all he could do not to laugh.

[uchihasavior]

"I'd like that." He can't guarantee he won't try to leave without the whole store in tow, though.

[senseiofthesea]

He reached over, ruffling up his hair. "Good. We'll do that soon."

[uchihasavior]

There's a half hearted, joking glare for that. Now it's all mussed up and in his face.
