Briefly resting.

Who: Adela Milani (abileunaspada) & OPEN

Notes: Training just isn't happening, so instead Adela's just dipping her feet in the river and getting lost in thought over life in general. There's been so much happening, and although she's been keeping a low profile, how much longer can that last?

The river water was still cold, even with spring shifting more and more into summer-like temperatures. The sweaty kunoichi just sighed as she looked to the sky, using her towel to wipe off her forehead and setting her shoes beside her before she let her feet rest in the river. That'd help her cool off, but she didn't feel right. It was weird, that training wasn't really clearing her head, but...

There were too many rumors floating about between shinobi for her to ignore anymore. Sasuke was in hospital for a while or outright not around, and she didn't know why (though she was partially sure it was mission related, there was likely a lot more to it than that). There had been kidnapping attempts in the village -- thankfully, those were thwarted but it still happened. Again. And the whispers of increasing defenses for Konoha, and political unrest in other regions... Maybe there really was war on the way.

Adela just sighed, her eyes on the sky. A war. She was probably lucky to have a moment to breathe like this, even if she was in Konoha. Her thoughts were interrupted when she picked up on someone approaching - even if she couldn't tell how she knew at the moment. That was when she sat up, looking around and calling out (though at that point not bothering to get to her feet just yet), "Someone there?"

"Karin-San... I'm resting a little bit. Training a little, you know?" She offered a weak smile, relaxing a bit at the familiar presence. A welcome face was always good, and hopefully Karin hadn't been dealing with as much crap as they had in Konoha.

"If I had heard you were in town I'd have looked for you sooner, but it's good to see you regardless."

If her behavior is anything to judge by Karin has had very good time by comparison. She was still getting just about only D-ranks, but it kept her busy. And it was better than being idle for any length of time. "That's good," she smiles.

"It was sort of unplanned. It has been a while since I saw my aunt or Konoha. I'm glad I found you though. I was planning to stop by the forge before heading back to Uzushio."

"Is that right? Well, I'm glad you're here -- glad to see you, Karin-san," She smiled, nodding to the taller red head as she relaxed by the river. Maybe she could get her mind off of current events for just a little bit, because at least talking to a friend would help.

"Surprised to see you wandering out this far though. Just followed one of the rivers or something?"

"Mhmm." She missed her family. She was so far from them. Sure Uzushio was full of returning Uzumaki, but she wasn't as closely related to many of them as she was Naruto and Kushina. And that tiny little detail meant she missed them intensely now that Kushina had moved back to Konoha. "I'm glad to see you too. What have been up to?"

Settling on the ground she leans back on her hands. She doesn't usually come out this way no, but she had lived in the village for a year a long time ago. She knew her way around most of the village. And it couldn't hurt to take a walk around the village while she was there on a kind of vacation for a little while. "Something like that, I used to live here a long time ago."

"I've been... Thinking, mostly," Adela just sighed, shaking her head as she looked back to the river, "Things have sort of gotten complicated in general, lately. So there's a lot to think about."

[sensethis]

Karin tilts her head and leans forward. "Anyway I can help?"

[abileunaspada]

"Not unless you know how to stop oncoming war," Again she sighed, shaking her head at nothing before she turned a weak smile to Karin, "Sorry, I guess it's pretty heavy stuff. We'll figure it out somehow, right? It's not something any of us can do alone."

[sensethis]

"I wish I did." She hadn't really expected the conversation to turn in such a dark direction. She shakes her head and lifts and then drops a shoulder in a half-shrug. "It's alright. It's what's on your mind." But the younger girl had a point they couldn't deal with the threat of war on their own. "Yeah the villages will. And if they don't they aren't doing their job right."

"But there could be a lot of reasons for not doing our job right. So we've gotta keep trying our hardest to make sure it doesn't happen," Again she shook her head, shifting to sit a little closer to Karin as she did. She didn't know why, but... Even if they didn't talk a whole lot, she kind of felt like the other girl was sort of a big sister.

Even so... "Karin, you know... Kushina-san was the first person I met in Konoha. I wasn't always here."

Karin could know. She was a friend of Kushina's, and an Uzushio ninja. Not only that, but... Adela couldn't explain it then. She felt like she could trust Karin with this kind of sensitive information to a degree. She wouldn't know everything, not yet, but... She could know some of why the war weighed so heavily on Adela's mind.

"Yeah I guess there are." She's not sure what those reasons might be, but some have to exist. At least that had to be the case if Adela was bringing it up.

She tilts her head at Adela. "Should that be something find to be a bad thing?" She's confused why where Adela spent time before Konoha was a problem. Karin herself was born in a nation not closely allied with any of the big five nations. People moved around. Origin didn't matter to her as long as she could trust them.

"You aren't going to tell me you're a sleeper assigned with kill the Hokage are you?" She jokes.

"I wouldn't be alive if I was," She chuckled at the joke, shaking her head and keeping her eyes closed. Still, her nerves were obvious as she thought over her next words, trying to figure out how to put it.

"It wouldn't be a big deal if I was born in a smaller village or something, but... I was born in Kirigakure, Karin. And there are some people there I don't want to fight if I don't have to. If we end up at war though, it might have to happen."

[sensethis]

That made her smile. It was good to see Adela relax even a fraction in the middle of the tension that seemed to have gathered in the last few moments. She doesn't think, she just reaches for the girls hand and gives it a squeeze.

"They're allies of Konoha though. There are probably things in place that won't make that necessary." And even she knows how likely that was. But it's the best she can come up with. She can't fathom what it would be like to possibly have to face down important people to her because of war.

"I hope you're right," Even if Adela doubted it, she couldn't help wanting Karin's words to be true. Still, the squeeze relaxed her and she leaned back on her other palm, allowing a vulnerability that wouldn't be seen outside of Konoha or even through most places inside it. Karin... She could trust.

"We'll see."

[sensethis]

"So do I." She wants that to be true as well. She doesn't want a war or to see her friends caught up in. She doesn't want to see the potential of her friends dying either.

She smiles wanly, "We will. I should let you rest."

"I'm sorta already resting, honestly. I mean, that's why I'm sitting here by the river you know?"

She smiled, turning to Karin a little bit as she just took in the atmosphere, the breeze and the cool water running by her feet.

"I guess I should get out of the sun too, but the water's really good for helping me cool off too."
