Who: Kushina and whoever
When: Arriving March 1st, late morning, until leaving March 9th, mid-afternoon
Where: In and around Konoha, between the village gates and the travel seal if you really want, ...seriously, just everywhere when she's not spending quality time with her family
Notes: Just come say hi 8| Aforementioned quality time with family will be most mornings from March 2-9, and all nights. But family teammates are always welcome to dinner. >3>

No matter how many times she came back to Konoha, she always made a point to walk around different parts of the village. It felt necessary to reacquaint herself with the streets and various landmarks after spending so long away from home. And meeting up with friends is a must too. On a couple afternoons she even takes some time in one of the training areas by the river. No reason not to keep sharp, even if she's technically on vacation.

Whether you're looking for her or not, that bright red hair of hers isn't hard to miss.

The transformed clone had orders to wait until Obito jumped down or passed into eyeshot and call out to him waving, then see if she could distract him with a little chat. Hopefully long enough for Kushina or one of her other clones to jump into action.

She made a few more and had them hide themselves away as best they could, closer to the training area than herself and the other clones. Those three would gauge Obito's reaction to noticing the disguised clone and one would disperse to pass on the intel to the original Kushina.

Obito made straight for her after a look over. Yep, not Rin, which was good because he'd feel bad if he surprise explosive tagged Rin. Like. Really really bad.

He kept his lashes mostly down though so that she wouldn't catch the red of his sharingan as he approached, more of an excited bounce entering his step as he waved with his empty hand. "You might wanna clear out, it's kinda mined out here."

The not!Rin turned once he came into view, and right on cue raised a hand to wave, but slowly dropped it at his words. She put on an expression of worry and looked around nervously.

"Mined? Why would anything like that be going on here? What if some genin come walking through and gets hurt? There's no warning signs posted! At least, I didn't see any on my way here."

Meanwhile, one of the nearby clones quietly vanished. Contact with target made. One from further back silently moved into its place. The real Kushina kept herself and one of her clones that hung back busy. They slapped up a line of semi-visible explosive tags along branches a few yards away from the training field, followed by a second obscured row several feet further on. A tricky gambit, but hopefully one that would help in her grand scheme.

"Ah... well it was kind of a spur of the moment thing." He shifted on his feet, throwing her a sheepish smile as he edged closer. "But... promise I'm keeping a sense out to ward people off, okay?"

He leaned in, putting his hand on her arm, this one the one with the tag. "But thanks for the reminder Kushina-nee."

Then he sprang away before she could react to the name.

"But I'm not--!"

Shit... He was gone and he knew, and that must mean-- Her hand went to where his hand had just been and, yup, she found a tag. She ripped it off and was about to keep it from going off, but the others had to know what he said. How had he seen through the transformation? A few seconds passed while she thought it over and-- boom!

The sound caught Kushina's team's attention as the information hit them. A guilty squirm hit her stomach as she inwardly cursed the clone for bringing up the pitfall to their game. But there was something more pressing right in front of her.

"Keeping a sense out... A sense..." She paused for a few seconds, thinking it over. "What could he mean... Damn it! He's using his Sharingan!"

Immediately she slapped her hand over her mouth. It came out too loud, now way he didn't. The clone put down two more tags before acknowledging the hurried order to move away. The original popped off to hide somewhere, ready and waiting to see if her hunter would become her prey.

Well, Obito wasn't deaf and he immediate started to circle toward the source of the shout, well, the seeming shout, and he knew that he'd only have so much time before she totally vacated the area. Still. Bombs, He couldn't ignore the risk, so he took the simplest route.

He moved through the field where the tags were very likely to be at top speed so that if they were there, he'd set them off in passing.

He didn't intend to let her get a fix on him that way though so at the last second he darted through the trees at speed away from the explosions, heading for her from the other side and going through trees so his passing wouldn't trigger anything as he looked for her.

And set them off he did. The actual minefield she set up exploded on the first row, and as planned, some debris set off a chain reaction for the back row. She noted it started at the far end on the left, so he'd likely be swinging around to find her.

Two clones should be coming up him, ready to tag him if they get the opportunity. Another ready to lead him on a chase into her general area if he goes off track while she molded up a good-sized amount of chakra.

Crap. He knew the second she'd clued into his idea as she was suddenly there, though he doubted it was the real her. He put the speed back on to dart away, reversing to go right past the clone and pretty much exactly in the opposite direction than he'd been going before. He could be tricky, and it was a bad day when he wasn't tricky enough to bypass simple maneuvers.

As soon as he went in the opposite direction, the clone wrapped a tag around a kunai and flung it at him. The other kept going to relay what happened to the original before darting off in another direction to relocate the Hokage.

Kushina frowned slightly. Maybe she'd have to go ahead with her plan sooner than expected. But then she'd have to set up a larger area than she'd like to. And even if she ran the chains underground, they'd still lead right back to her. No, she'd have to wait until he got closer. In the meantime, she needed a new plan of attack. Time to make something up on the fly...

Kushina, no matter how she cut it, was older than Obito. That meant that she was more set in her fighting style than Obito had been when she'd started to leave the village for long periods of time... and now was when that was doing her a disservice. Obito did a quick genjutsu, making himself blend into the surroundings. He wasn't as good with them as he could be, sure, it wasn't his favored battle tactic... but he'd gotten better. He made sure to cut off as much noise as he could make to try circling back toward her again, keeping a sharp eye out for explosive tags and heading back through the area where he'd set off the volley earlier to come at her.

None of her clones could find him and each and every one of them was steadily getting just as annoyed as the original. Genjutsu was definitely her weakest link, but she had always kept working at finding ways to combat it. She'd had a few breakthroughs, but camoflauge when she didn't know it was there? Still nothing for that. She made a mental note to see if it was possible to learn her niece's technique next time she was back in Uzushio. It sure would come in handy in a situation like this.

Kushina hidden explosive tags up and down every tree in a five meter diameter circle around her location, making sure they wouldn't be visible for anyone coming in. No tree would be left standing surrounding her position once they were set off. And then she'd corner him in her barrier. Seemed like a pretty solid plan, if she did think so herself.

How to handle this... Up until now he hadn't made any clones of himself, but he slipped into a section that was dipped from the explosions but not cleared and made three earth clothes, swiftly scattering them at a dead run after putting the henge on them too. They ought to take care of most of the explosions as he made his way closer to Kushina himself...

BANG. BANG. BANG. Three starting points for the explosion?! Now he was using clones! Plan A failed, but she was gonna nail him down even if she collapsed from chakra exhaustion. Time for Plan B to be made up on the fly. She released her existing clones and created new ones. Nearly 40 shadow clones total. She had one take her place in the center, ready to fight, and bounced back to hide among her clones, where she'd blend in perfectly. They spread out in a circle, pushing out toward the explosion, each hoping to run into the real Obito. If he destroyed one, the others would immediately change direction to turn on him. Each ready to stick a tag on him.

He stilled, checking to see if his distraction worked... and wow that was a lot of Kushina now.

Crap.

Okay so he was clearly going to need to be careful or he was going to get dogpiled. Staying away from the ongoing explosions, he worked on creeping along the paths of silence left behind, going for the most intense number of 'Kushina' in hopes she'd be there.

If not he was so screwing himself here. Time for non-fatal area stabbing to see if he couldn't take a slew out before she caught up to his tactics.

Sorry Obito, but with each clone dispersed, more fly in to fill its place. But after ten or fifteen clones, Kushina realizes where he's stabbing. She holds back a ways to create more clones to send in to his location. A steady amount so they trickle in. An apparent never-ending flow of clones in an overwhelm-and-exhaust tactic. An old trick, but a classic.

Well, this was just not-good. She must have caught on... but there was an advantage to it too, and he sprung forward, letting one stab throuh him without contact before grabbing her and flinging her into others to start making his way forward. Better he take as much care not to exhaust himself on that front as possible.

Pretty sure that she was planning something, he didn't plan to stay still for it.

A couple more clones vanished. Kushina swelled indignantly and nearly yelled, but she had to keep quiet. Besides, a few of her clones nearby had taken to attempting to beat on him for going intangible. More clones surged forward, a few of them shooting out chakra chains in an attempt to hold him down.

Even though she wasn't sure if it'd work, she just had to try and continue to wear him down. So she continued making clones since her chakra levels would be fine for a long while.

Okay this was bad. He would tire out fast if he tried to stick around... so he bolted, stopping any attempts to fight her at all as she redoubled her efforts an he bolted. He was fast!

Hopefully fast enough he could get away from her before he had to rest that ability for a while. Which wouldn't be long at all. Not cool, he needed to not be on the defensive.

She was no Yellow Flash, but she was pretty quick too. Her clones were not letting up, sticking right on him. And when clones stopped getting destroyed, the information on his actions stopped coming. And that's when the real Kushina ended the clone production line and sped up to hide in the center of the group.

The moment he got to the edge of the group he threw himself free with a burst, hands going through seals and he flipped, slamming his hands down in a flip to set off a jutsu to throw a wall up behind him as he completed the motion and kept going.

The nearest clones hit the wall and fell to the ground before poofing out of existence. The rest out of eyeshot of the wall were able to detour around or over as the nearest clones that hadn't slammed into it hurried to not lose sight of him and catch up.

Perfect! He'd used the obscuring factor of the wall to send off a clone running as he himself dove into the ground, making his way back under the mess of clones and hurrying to find a spot, thankfully using Earth jutsu for all this, to emerge and see the effectiveness of the ploy.

Soon her clones had converged on Obito's, still unaware of the switcheroo. And suddenly, from somewhere behind Obito, a flash of red flying at him, fingers already forming the Tiger seal, characteristic of most fire jutsu.

"Konohagakure Secret Taijutsu Technique: One Thousand Years of Death!"

Fingers pointed right for his butt and found their mark. Bullseye. A few seconds after contact...

Poof!

The clones nearest started a giant ruckus, several of them calling for Obito's blood. Word took longer to pass down the line, but eventually every single Kushina present knew. The Hokage had escaped. And now she was on the warpath.

Emerging, emerging was good as he heard the outraged cry go up, and he made sure he was covered before emerging, keeping an eye peeled for tags before running, keeping as silent as possible as he skirted the destruction perimeter to find a better vantage point over the mob.

Word was quickly passed back through the ginger mob to stick in sight range of each other. In one long wave, they'd move back over the direction they came in. But Kushina quickly called up four others. She sent them each to a corner of the training ground's perimeter to set up a wide chakra chain barrier. Even if Obito was cheating and going intangible to escape, it would at least keep out anyone not involved with their game.
