Peter hadn't intended to be away for his birthday, and just hoped that if anyone had remembered, that they weren't going to be upset with him for not being home on the day itself. He'd been headed that way before he got the lead after all, the day before, and thus it was that early on the 15th of May, on his 18th birthday, Peter took a straight path East instead of north, hopping the seal to somewhere else not Rice on a quest for an obscure, and honestly, not very important scroll. Still, it was a scroll he'd been looking for and that was honestly what mattered here.

"...I really didn't remember it that way, that's kind of sad."

"How did you remember it?"

[lostmarauder]

"I was exceedingly clever."

"Obviously why I never got them."

[lostmarauder]

"No you're smart! I just did too much."

"Thank you for admitting it." And she's just going to stick her tongue out at him likes she's five.

"You're just rubbing in the victory now, it hurts me Karin. Why."

[sensethis]

She drapes an arm over his shoulders and grins at him. "I'm sorry Peter. You know that wasn't my intention." Forgive her?

He leaned into the gesture and heaved a sigh, then gave her a shy, sideways smile. "Yeah I know, it's fine."

[sensethis]

"You sure? I wouldn't say no if you wanted me to make it up to you" She pulls back her arm, but sticks close. "So do you want to sit and tell me about you being a ninja?"

"Make it up to me how?" He looked thoroughly surprised, and just a little intrigued. "And... I like it more than before."

[sensethis]

"However you'd like?" She shrugs, and leads him over to a nearby tree to sit under. "How so?"

He flushed a bit pink at her words and immediately put the ideas out of his head. "Ah... it's just... I don't feel useless anymore."

[sensethis]

"You're blushing Peter, something I said?" She is not sorry for sounding coy as she nudges him in the shoulder. She's just going to latch onto that. Though really Peter you weren't useless as far as she was concerned, and you really should know that by now.

[lostmarauder]

"Er, yes, I mean. No? I- What were we talking about??"

[sensethis]

She laughs and leans in, "We were talking about why you were blushing."

[lostmarauder]

"Nope, pretty sure that's not what we were talking about." He shook his head quickly.

[sensethis]

"Pretty sure we were. But alright you'll let me know when you want me to make it up to you."

[lostmarauder]

He rubbed the back of his neck and gave her a wan smile, still pink. "Sure can."

[sensethis]

She pulls back, "Relax, I was mostly joking." She falls quiet a moment and then smiles. "By the way happy birthday."

[lostmarauder]

He gave her a small, more relaxed smile. "Thank you."

[sensethis]

She shrugs and looks a little sheepish. "It's nothing, I always wish you a happy birthday."

"That was a long time ago."

[sensethis]

"Not as long as you think."

[lostmarauder]

"Probably exactly as long as I think."
