Notes: He was sent to pick up a merchant and drop off some paperwork that needed a ranking nin to protect it. Of course that left him with a couple days of lag time to account for.

He'd dropped off the paperwork just hours before, and in the process made sure that the Hokage was aware of his presence. That meant that he had a group of watchers following him around, he could practically feel their eyes burning into him, but he didn't mind. So long as he was permitted to do as he liked within allowed areas, then he saw no issue with being watched so closely.

Primarily checking on the two Konoha shinobi that actually had even the remotest hint of importance to him, actually, but he was in no particular hurry to get there. He had until the morning after next before he had to leave again after all.

"A two part mission, yes. I have a lull while waiting for a client." He reached out, resting his hand atop her head as he gave her a small smile of his own.

"I see." She stayed still, careful not to dislodge that hand. "Is it a long lull? A day? An hour?" She wanted to know exactly how much time she had left before he was gone again.

"I will be here tonight, tomorrow, and leave the morning after that." He tilted his head, peering down at her face. "I already signed into a room for the stay."

She reached up, curling her fingers in the sleeve of his coat. "Would you like to have dinner with me tonight, then?" Her aunt had been looking forward to meeting Ami's 'friend', after all.

He peered down at her contemplatively for a moment. "I have no protest to such a thing if you're certain."

"Definitely," she said firmly. She made no move to let go of his sleeve, content in the fact that it wasn't his dominant arm and he would shake her off if she was being a nuisance. It also gave her a subtle way to test how the stitching was holding up.

He hummed, then turned to resume walking, leaving her to be pulled along on hs sleeve. "How soon will that be?"

"Just under an hour," she said, doing some quick mental calculations. "Did you want to come to my house now, or did you have more to do around here?"

"I was intending to get a meal soon actually." He peered down at her. "I trust you have a handle on your adult guardians."

"My uncle is on a business trip, and my aunt always makes more food than we can eat for dinner, because sometimes my cousin brings home friends without warning." She paused. "He won't today, though. I believe that his friends dislike his current girlfriend. Or something." Idiots, her expression seemed to say.

"Clearly unreliable and two faced 'friends' then aren't they?"

[thelittleprincess]

"Possibly. Nii-chan may not be sinless either." She shrugged easily. "Words were said."

He rolled a shoulder as the entirety of his opinion on that. He'd never looked well on betrayal, no matter the reason. "Which way?"

[thelittleprincess]

"Left at the next intersection. We live in the Shopping District." She hadn't mentioned that in her letters, had she? That their shop was there, yes, but perhaps not their home.

"You live close to the shop?" He looked at her rather curiously for that. It would explain her quick gift turnaround.

[thelittleprincess]

"It's a large building," she told him. "The storefront and kitchen are on the bottom floor, and we use our basement for a storehouse. We sleep upstairs."

He nodded once to show his understanding, gaze taking in everything. "Such an unusual place for a shinobi. Do you intend to remain there as you grow?"

[thelittleprincess]

"I plan to move out and find a place to myself once I reach Jounin," she explained. "Nii-chan is set to inherit the store anyways. When I start taking long-term and more dangerous missions, it will be easier to not burst in on them at odd times of the day and night."

[silverterror]

"I've never lived with another person in a fashion where that was a concern.'

[thelittleprincess]

Ami ruminated over that. "It can be nice," she said, at length. "My family is, at least. I suppose it varies by case."

[silverterror]

"Mine is not." He stated it in simple declaration. It was, after all, a hard truth.

[thelittleprincess]

"Hopefully mine is more to your tastes." That might have had... implications, coming from anybody other than her, but she simply wanted those dear to her to get along well.

"Very possibly. They came up with you."

[thelittleprincess]

"Mm." Her fingers curled a little tighter in his sleeve, and she buried a smile behind her collar.

He noticed, and was quite satisfied with his result. He wasn't unaware of his affect on others, after all, no one with genjutsu skill could be. He just usually didn't care.

He followed her directions back toward the area her home was in.
