Suna Chunin Exams!

Where: Sunagakure and the surrounding desert. Village Map.
When: June 4th-30th

Event Details
Suna does not require examinees to be part of a team to participate. However, if you came with a partner or team, losing one of them before the end of the second part of the exam will leave you disqualified.

4th: Starting at ten in the morning, those being tested will be gathered in the northmost part of the Bazaar and each will be handed a ribbon with a number on it and which is either red, blue, or green. They will then be sent to find the shinobi with their matching color and number in the bazaar before they leave the area, and tail them without getting themselves detained by their target.

Please note that those being tailed will give two chances to genin following them before detaining their tails.

Any who fail to keep an eye on their target or catch back up to them by three in the afternoon are disqualified.

4th-9th: At three o'clock, after all tailed shinobi are gathered in one place, all genin present will be escorted out of the village along the road north past the fork east before being given their next instructions.

This will take about three hours and once their destined point on the road is reached, having met up with another shinobi group who will have sets of wrapped packages. Each package will be either a sun, moon, or star, and all competitors must have the full set in their possession before arriving at their destination, which will be the Demon desert fort.

All competitors are advised to not unwrap their packages until away from other teams, and teams will be released into the desert in the order which they arrived to the meeting place in Suna after tailing their local.

Any who do not arrive by seven PM on the ninth will be disqualified, as will anyone who is missing a teammate. Only after this point in time will lost genin be rounded up and returned to their joinin.

27th- Opening Ceremony: At six in the evening the opening greeting will be declared. Suna will only be greeting civilians and shinobi of allied countries!

28th-29th: One on one tournament matches are held.

30th- Closing Ceremony: At noon the closing ceremony will be held, then everyone is free to return home.

She didn't really want to answer his question. She was bored and it was rude but it was also hot and she still wasn't 100% sure what she was suppose to do besides being a body. Currently an important body but a body nonetheless.

Yuffie looked up at Kisame before looking back around them. "It'd be more fun if I could wonder around." She could go look at things but she needed to stay close to those from Kiri and Yuffie had always been the curious sort.

Dark eyes looked up at him again. "Are you enjoying yourself?"

"We might be able to get away with a little bit of that." Kisame does enjoy pushing things, even if he knows they probably shouldn't. Maybe they can flag down an escort and do it officially.

The question in turn makes him shrug. "It's not as exciting as it could be but I'm not bored, yet. The matches will be good to stave that off and we'll have good seats."

And even if he's sort of guarding, it will be nice to not be fully on guard duty so he can pay more attention to the fights.

Exploring officially wouldn't be as fun but it would be doing something as they waited. The truth was Yuffie was a little excited to watch the fights but there was so much down time waiting for that to happen. She had her eyes on a few of those participating and she wonders how they'd do. While she wasn't one for betting she did like making judgement's which was perfect for this sort of event.

Of course these were judgement's she made to herself.

Her gaze shifted to Kisame curiously. "Yeah. Do you ever get bored." She wasn't sure he was capable of that sort of emotion.

"I do. I've just had time to learn to hide it well."

He grinned at her, happy to leave it at that and let her figure it out. Truthfully there was always something that needed to be done. KIsame didn't have the time for boredom, especially now. He had a feeling that the matches would settle their new daimyo a bit, so it was just a matter of locating a way to keep her from getting dangerously bored until then.

"Let's see if we can locate an escort to satisfy the intricacies of diplomacy, eh?"

Yuffie smiled at that and then rolled her eyes. He might be some sort of guard but it's hard not to see the person that she knew before. He was someone she had wanted to but heads with, to see what she could learn and it wasn't so easy to annoy him.

"Sure." She giggled softly. "I wonder what they would see fit to even show us." She followed Kisame thinking that he must know where to go to do just that. Yuffie was thankful for the distraction. So much has been happening lately she hadn't let herself stop and think.

Luckily there was always something to do.

"Probably more than they would show average ninja."

After all, Suna had to know that Kiri had a spy network inside the village, beholden to the Mizukage, and theoretically the daimyo, to deliver a constant flow of information about their ally. It was only good to be prepared, especially considering all the attacks recently. Kisame walked casually down one of the public avenues, wondering if he could locate Temari-san. She was interesting and good company.

Yuffie shrugged. "Guess so."

She followed behind him looking around at the setting curiously. Every time something caught her eyes she had to make an effort not to just go running off towards it. She wanted to learn more about this place, about everywhere.

With things as hectic as they were knowing more would be better.

Kisame saw her interest get pulled by things, and well, they weren't in a restricted area at the moment. "If you see something interesting, go look. It won't do any harm"

Probably. Unless by bad luck she stumbled into something secret and being hidden in the open.

Yuffie watched Kisame for awhile longer before taking a sharp right and running over to check out a store front. It wasn't anything special but it was filled with a few shinny things from knifes to gems. Both of which were things that Yuffie adored.

She wasn't really paying attention to see if Kisame followed her but after a few seconds of looking she'd step deeper into the store.

Kisame made sure the others were aware of where Yuffie had gone before following her over. The knives were far more interesting to Kisame than the gems, but watching the reactions of the shopkeep was also interesting too. Not often did someone known as a foreign dignitary go around looking at shops, after all!

Kisame didn't see any reason to interrupt either, really. She was keeping herself busy, and thus out of international incidents.

Yuffie walked up next to Kisame holding two knifes and a few gems in her palm once of which was a necklace. Important or not she was still a girl and she liked shinny things like a goldfish.

"I got what I want." She glanced down at the knifes he was looking at. "I'd get the one are the far left."

Kisame considered the blade she pointed out. It was a very good blade. Did he need another?

"You have a good eye. I wasn't thinking of making a purchase, but--" Kisame looked at it for a moment more and then shrugged.

"Another weapon never hurts!"

Yuffie quickly stashes her two new blades from sight sliding them against her hips. "Yeah I didn't expect there to be such a cool find." She then loops the necklace around her neck before stashing the last few things in her pockets.

"Also you can never have enough blades and it's not very expensive." Which was always a plus for Yuffie since stealing was out of the question for her now.

"It is a good find, and a good price. You have a good eye for more than just value."

Kisame grins at that as he pays for his purchase and lets her decide where to go next after exiting the shop. That eye, if it extended to people as well as things, would prove invaluable in leading Kiri into the future.

"Well yeah."

Yuffie prides herself on a lot of things and one of those things was being able to pick out good blades. It wasn't so hard to see things if you really looked at them. Of course Yuffie was also a little to blunt for her own good.

She walked off assuming that Kisame would follow. He's never been pushy so she didn't expect him to be now. If he saw something he liked she'd lag behind just to give her opinion on it.

She stopped a few shops later looking at the strange sign above it. It was just a regular book store but there was something about the sign that strikes Yuffie as odd. She shrugged it off and turned to look at Kisame before walking forward.

"When does the event start anyway?"

Kisame followed happily, mostly just looking, but every once in a while, something did catch his attention. Mostly weapons, of course, but there was a book on basic puppet jutsu that caught his eye for a minute. Not really for himself, but it was something Kiri didn't have, or have much experience with even, and maybe it would prove useful.

And further down, Kisame paused to look at the same sign. Hmm... Better not to investigate now, though, because--

The question, just when he was thinking about the time, made Kisame laugh. "Soon. We should probably be heading to the arena within the next fifteen minutes or so."

Yuffie looked back at the book store and then turned in the direction that they had came in. "Might as well get there early."

She paused looking up at him. "We get to eat afterwards right?" She was pretty sure you weren't suppose to be popping food into your mouth while you were watching people beat the crap out of each other.

Though knowing that the events were soon to start made Yuffie excited. There was a little hop to her step and there was something about the grin spread across her lips.

"I'm sure we can, if you want to."

He'd had a meal recently enough that Kisame didn't feel hungry, though he'd make sure he had plenty of water to drink. The dry air was murder on his gills. Anyway, no issue with being early. Watching the crowd file in could be it's own show. So Kisame turned down a side street he knew headed straight toward the arena.

Yuffie turned and trotted behind him. Her legs were much shorter than his but it didn't take long to catch up. She couldn't see pass his back as she followed him through the thinner side street but she certainly heard the arena.

She was also now wishing she had more water. The moment they got closer her attention was snagged by the crowd. She watched people curiously and there were a lot of people who watched her with the same interest.

They're getting attention, not that Kisame minded. His eyes scanned the crowd, looking for threats. Or opportunities to look into later.

But Kisame's primary concern was getting most of them up to their respective booths. They'd be separating there, because Kisame would go to the Kage booth, and Yuffie would be with the other daimyo that were attending, but the guards would be split up so neither of them would appear defenseless. Not that they were, but some people were really that stupid.

Yuffie enjoyed the attention and smiled at those around her. Anyone who gave her a nasty look just got a wider smile. She liked bugging people.

She followed him until there paths split. She pointed towards her seat with a smile. "Let me know if you catch anything I miss." She actually liked Kisame's opinion.

"I will make sure to! Enjoy the matches, Daimyo-sama."

Though it could be taken as teasing, Kisame was actually sincere about the honorific. He'd be keeping notes not only on the matches but her. If any attacks happened, he would be prepared to jump in.

"Yeah, yeah. Later."

She knew that Kisame had a title but it felt weird calling him by it. She didn't mean any disrespect but when it was mostly just the two of them she'd rather just call him by name.

Yuffie wasn't expecting anything to happen but once she was seated she felt on edge.

Kisame didn't mind too much, as the title felt strange and ill-fitting on him to begin with, but it wasn't his place to say one way or the other. He watched her go before taking his own seat, and while he did keep most of his attention on the matches, he did check on her visually from time to time.
