abileunaspada: (I'm gonna be sick...)

Flu Season! ... Wait, that's not a good thing.

Where: Konohagakure
When: February 10th - 19th
Notes: The flu has hit Konoha and Adela is one of many victims! It doesn't seem so bad at first, but after a while it really starts to get to her. And being bedridden for any reason, let alone illness, isn't fun.

FEBRUARY 10th - SASUKE UCHIHA ONLY

Maybe it was because the weather had been unusually cold with lots of heavy snow, or maybe it was because of a bug being brought in from the returning ninja from the chuunin exams. Either way, it seemed like she was starting to come down with something fast and it made her unhappy beyond belief. But, she'd fight against the conflicting feelings of being far too hot and chilled to the bone, dressing for the weather and sniffling in a feeble attempt to breathe. It was just a cold, she told herself -- she'd be able to fight through that for the spar, and have a good long rest after.

It was then that Adela reached the training field, a little early and beginning to stretch even as she started to feel dizzy. Her stomach was turning uncomfortably too, but that was probably just loss of appetite from the cold, right? Right. She'd wait for Sasuke to show up, and spar like normal. That'd get her blood flowing, and that'd help her feel better. Yeah...

FEBRUARY 11TH TO 19TH - OPEN

Stuck in bed with the flu, a high fever, an upset stomach, and bed-rest orders coming from everyone around her. That was one recipe to make Adela exceedingly grumpy with life, and she coughed weakly before reaching for the tea beside her to help soothe her throat. This crap was sweet, but it really did help her throat feel even slightly less sore than before, so it was helpful. Even if she didn't like it that much.

The smallest of sighs left her as she tried to adjust the swiftly-warming cloth on her head, longing for it to be cool once more and longing to just be healthy again. There would be no fast way, not for this though. She kind of felt like she wanted to die, but that was dramatic -- the illness was miserable, but she knew it'd get better. Even if it didn't feel like it, and even if her stomach was having trouble holding down much more than crackers, tea, water, and soup.

The knocking on her bedroom door made her head pound, and she groaned audibly before sniffling and glancing to it, flushed with fever and trying to crawl out from under her blankets a bit so she could support herself on her elbow. Her voice was weak when answering, weak and sore when at last she asked, "Who is it...?"

It was an odd and strange thing, being praised for her unorthodox way of thinking and viewing the world. For Tenten, it was simply something that came as naturally as breathing, presenting herself with a problem or an idea, and working diligently - throwing herself into the subject - in order to either fix it, or make it into a reality. It was a challenge much like any other that her team faced head-on between their day-to-day routine.

"Yes, well... you can thank my parents for that. Most of what I know, I learned from them." At the same time, it was somewhat... refreshing to hear that all her efforts meant something. As if part of her could feel at ease for the validation, especially from someone who was more than familiar with the ins and outs of weapon making and design. "And normally, I would take on these projects myself, but... my father always trusted your Uncle's judgement on matters that were a puzzle for him so... there's no reason for me to not do the same, right?"

With that, she offered Adela a smile of her own, keeping to the light subject and letting the nostalgia fill her up with warmth before the sadness of reality could settle in.

Because I don't need to use doujutsu to see that your chakra is a mess, Sasuke thought, but decided against saying. As much as he'd been pleased to see her determination about her bloodline jutsu last time they'd spoken, she'd also seemed insecure enough about the past few spars they'd had that it likely wouldn't help anything to accidentally set it off.

"Mm," he said instead, tone skeptical. "How long have you been sick?"

Usually, Kiba avoided sickness and those that carried it like - no pun intended - the plague. Not only was he useless as a sensory type shinobi when all his senses were clouded by snot and mucus, but he was also incredibly pathetic when sick, and he didn't want to suffer through that self-inflicted embarrassment any time soon if he could handle it.

So why was he here? Well, luckily for Adela, the Inuzuka persisted with excellent health and strong immune systems, usually getting most common illnesses out of the way as children. Kiba couldn't accurately place the last time he'd been sick, but he knew it was a while ago.
That, and... Kiba wanted to be here. He supposed that was the only explanation, but as soon as he'd heard about Adeka's condition, he'd pestered his mother for a favor - in refurn for a horrendous round of curious teasing - and had raced over with a still-warm pot of soup in his hands.

"It's Kiba!" he practically yelled when he reached the door, Akamaru waiting patient outside the building. He was about to open the door and let himself in, but remembered his manners at the last minute and paused to wait for her permission.

There it was, Sasuke thought with an internal sigh, the shinobi's capitulation to the reality that even mercilessly-trained bodies had limits. He stayed where he was as she drew closer, only ducking a little lower to make sure he was examining her pupils on a level.

"You sound congested," he informed her, and then lifted his hand, showing her his palm. "And you look like you're running a temperature. Do you want me to check?"

It was obvious even from sight, but Sasuke gave it a few seconds of comparison between her clammy forehead and his own before withdrawing his hand and delivering the verdict: "You're far too sick to be training."

There was sometimes value in toughing it out, but between the weather and how ill she already was, Adela was merely tempting fate at this point. "You need liquids and bed rest."

"Well... neither one of you have ever let me down, so... I have faith in you both." Here, she offered the other a gentle smile that showed nothing but her genuine trust in the pair.

It was a small consultation, Tenten knew. Because it was not often that she sought the aid of outside help on any of her projects - not when Tenten had her own forge to work from, and her own secrets of technique and intent to keep hidden away from the public eye. The less others knew of how her weapons functioned, the better it would be for her out in the field when such surprises could come in handy to have.

"But hey, that's good to hear, about the test and all! Means he thinks you're ready, right?"

i made such a bad typo in the last post, kill me..... (also for my own sanity, this is on the 16th)

Despite the often assumption that all Inuzuka were alike - Hana was very different to Kiba in many ways, and not just their physicality. Perhaps this one aspect of personality he took from his father instead of predominantly being his mothers son... There was no way to tell, but at his roots Kiba wasn't the type to let anything stop him doing what he wanted to-- least of all something as pathetic as catching the flu!!! That's why he was there, he was sure of it, and ignored the weird fluttery feeling in his stomach as she called out.

Well, at least she was smiling. That was a good sign.

He entered with the pot in his arms, the cloth it was wrapped in depicting little cartoon puppies, making it's origin more than obvious.

"Hey..." Kiba said quietly, wary in case she had a headache. "I brought you some soup.."

It was something she had plenty of experience with, watching someone struggle with being put on bedrest when all they wanted to do was to get up and get active. To be of use. It was very akin to how Lee would always flop and shift and fidget in his hospital bed after every serious injury he would get from his intense training.

But it was necessary. Just as it was necessary for Adela to relax and rest in order to recover quickly from this cold of hers. Still, there was no reason that she could not get a little help along the way.

"Well..." Finally setting the bag she had in her hands onto the side table beside the bed, the elder reached in and pulled out a decent sized container. "Maybe this will help you get better, faster."

He could see the smile in her eyes, hear it in her voice, and it was that reassurance that made him relax the worrying pull of his eyebrows and return her smile.

"Well, it's more from my Ma than it is from me..." he murmured, looking furtively aside as though he were shy, and completely failing to mention that it had been his input and his agreement to help his mother for two weeks of errands that had made this gift a possibility in the first place... but Adela didn't need to know that.

"It's good stuff, though.. Especially when you're not feelin' great." He used one hand to carefully untie the cloth and reveal the small bowl positioned upside-down on the lid. "Want some now?"
fangoverfang: (grin | laughing)

[personal profile] fangoverfang 2015-03-08 06:43 pm (UTC)(link)
"Uuh-" he warbled, pausing for a moment in the motions of removing the lid of the pot to think about that possibility. "I've watched my Ma do it for years, but uh.. I only ever help, or make really simple stuff. Nothin' too showy. I'm probably way better at tasting than I am cooking!" Another wide grin, and he seemed to snap out of his moment of stillness.

He upturned the little bowl, removed the lid and unhooked the little lunch-spoon from it's handy perch on the side of the large bowl. Oh yes, he'd come prepared.

It smelt amazing, full of spice and heavenly light, but with enough body that it wouldn't just go straight through you. Kiba's mouth was actually kind of watering as he handed it over.
fangoverfang: (grin | happy to see you)

Kiba didn't think it was rude at all- in fact, he was kind of getting a kick out of seeing her enjoy it so much. After all, there was nothing like seeing someone enjoying themselves because of you, right?

While she ate, he settled himself a little more comfortably at the end of her bed, the pot in his lap, between his crossed legs. His mother had warned him about coming here (after she'd teased him about a crush he definitely didn't have probably) but seeing Adela's smile when he entered the room, and seeing her eat with gusto now was enough to make him sure this was a good idea.

Liquids, bed rest, and maybe a cold cloth, Sasuke revised mentally, looking at the way Adela was holding herself. He'd seen shinobi checked into the hospital in worse condition, to be sure, but preventative measures were needed to prevent exactly that from happening.

"Come on," he said after it looked like Adela was still stewing in disappointment. "We can always reschedule a spar, but not if you get sicker. I'll walk you home."

"Don't sweat it." Kiba shrugged a shoulder and took the bowl from her, setting it and the pot on the floor for safe keeping. "Mom made enough for a family of about.. well- more than you can eat in one go. I dunno, you can share it with your uncle or save some for later. It keeps pretty good."

He looked back up at her once the delicates were safe on the floor, his elbows on his knees. "So how did you get this sick in the first place, anyways?"
